Winter Pep Band
Please see the attached link for Winter Pep Band Dates! Remember to please let Mrs. Fisher know via email in ADVANCE if you plan to be absent from any so that she can properly plan if we need to cancel a pep band due to low attendance. Please note one change from the initial version of the schedule that was sent out -- we are no longer playing for the 1/16 Girls BB game. Thank You!
Solo and Ensemble // S/E Showcase
We have our annual Solo and Ensemble Festival coming up this year on March 7th @ Merrill HS! There are a total of 27 HS Band events, plus even more choir events and MS Band and Choir events. Whether you/your student is participating or not, it's a great opportunity to go out and listen to the musical ability within our conference -- plus it's free to watch! The first draft of the schedule will be sent out at soon as Mrs. Fisher receives it from Merrill.
Following the Solo and Ensemble Festival, we will have a S/E Showcase performance on March 16th that is a required concert for all band students to attend. We will be performing one full band piece that everyone is a part of, as well as the instrument family ensembles that every student has been learning (whether they are performing with the group on March 7th or not). Our Band Boosters will also be hosting a silent auction at this concert! If you had items you wanted to donate, please email Mrs. Fisher by March 1st!
Jazz Band - Spring
Just a small reminder that Jazz Band did start back up for the spring. The meeting time for this is 7:00am - 7:50am on Thursdays before school. This will happen every Thursday until the Jazz concert, with the exception of the week of spring break, and March 5th (because I want the students to get a little extra sleep the week of S/E). Students that aren't in the Remind group for this should join -- code: @mhsjazz67
Community Connections -- Mosinee Band Social Media
Every few years, a new "hip" app comes out allowing connections between students, friends, and communities on a large scale. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and now TikTok -- all very different, but the same in one sense. Our band has a Facebook (Mosinee High School Band) and an Instagram (@mosineebands) page, run by our director, Mrs. Sargent-Fisher and social media manager, Shelby Chaney.
In an effort to stay with the times, and with the work of Shelby Chaney, our band will be starting a Mosinee Bands TikTok page! TikTok is the preferred social media app of our youth, and will hopefully allow us to continue making connections with our student community that are not in band, as well as create a fun outlet for the band students. With the approval from Mrs. Chmiel, this will be primarily run by our social media manager, supervised by our director. We understand that not everyone is able or wants to be posted on social media, so students all received a permission slip that MUST be signed in order to be included in the Mosinee Band TikTok page. If you do not want your student being posted on the TikTok page, you do not need to email Mrs. Sargent-Fisher, as we will NOT post any students who do not have a signed permission slip.
