🐻Grizzly News!
Greetings, Millswood Families!
Last week was a short one—only four days—but we packed a lot of excitement into those four days!
First, a huge shout-out to Mrs. Okino and Ms. Khoshaba for leading our Catalina Math Parties on Tuesday and Friday and helping our students prepare for their upcoming adventure.
💃 Our First Dance Was a HUGE Success!
Thursday night was our first school dance of the year—the Fall Dance! We sold approximately 300 tickets, and it was an incredible night.
There is something refreshing about watching our middle schoolers simply get together, dance, sing, laugh, and enjoy being kids without worrying about missing assignments, grades, or all the other complexities of middle school life.
Thank you to all of our students who came out and made the night so much fun, and a special thank you to our staff who helped make the event possible.
If you missed this one, don't miss the next dance! 😄
🏝️ It's Catalina Week!
This week, approximately 90 of our 8th graders and several Millswood staff members are beginning their journey to Catalina! We wish them safe travels and an incredible experience.
We hope you learn a ton of science, make some lifelong memories, and enjoy everything the beautiful Pacific Coast has to offer! 🌊
Our 8th-grade classrooms and hallways may be a little quieter this week, but the rest of us will keep moving right along!
📚 Two Weeks Until Fall Break — Finish Strong!
For everyone staying behind, this week won't have quite as many celebrations. 😄
We have a full five-day week—no Minimum Days and no days off. But here's the good news: we only have this week and next week before our two-week Fall Break!
We're also approaching the end of Quarter 1, so I want to challenge every Grizzly to finish strong. Check Aeries, complete those missing assignments, ask for help when you need it, and don't take your foot off the gas just because the finish line is getting closer!
🥞 Pancakes with the Principal!
This Friday, September 18, we will hold our very first Perfect Attendance Celebration: Pancakes with the Principal!
Students who have earned perfect attendance will be recognized during Homeroom, and I'm looking forward to enjoying some pancakes and spending time celebrating them. 🥞
Attendance matters, and we want to recognize our students who make it a priority to show up every day ready to learn!
That's about it for this week! Thank you, Millswood families, for your continued partnership and support. Let's have a great week and keep pushing toward a strong finish to our first quarter.
Go Grizzlies! 🐻💚

Catalina Math Party
One more HUGE shoutout to our Catalina Math Party, which was a major success! I truly appreciate the preparation and intentionality that went into making this event possible. The magical part is that our students were having so much fun—enjoying snacks, laughing with friends, and solving problems collaboratively—that they probably didn’t even realize they were participating in high-level tutoring… voluntarily! 😄
Speaking of high-level tutoring, a special thank you to Mrs. Okino and Ms. Khoshaba, who dedicated so much of their time, energy, and creativity to preparing this experience for our students. Your investment in our kids does not go unnoticed, and the success of this event was a direct reflection of that work!
