Happy March SSS!

We have a lot of fun things planned for the longest month of the year! March Madness Read Aloud Bracket is making a return this month! Be sure to ask your child about the read aloud they vote for each week. The March Madness Mouse will also be returning to SSS this month. You never know when the mouse will visit your child's classroom, so it's important to be here everyday!

SSS STARS will also be focusing on respect throughout the next few months. How can you show respect to yourself, others, and your school? Continue reading to find more information about respect and all things SEL!

10 Simple Ways to Raise a Respectful Child

You're scanning the frozen vegetables at the supermarket-peas, carrots, or corn?-while just down the aisle, your 6-year-old is in a rapture of ice-cream novelties. There's a rainbow- swirled something, a sprinkle-dotted something else, and her eyes are sparkling. "We should probably get going," you say, only now she's kneeling on the floor to admire the bottom row.

You probably saw that funny old YouTube video of a 1-year-old sitting in front of a fashion magazine, gamely touching and swiping the page with her fingers in an effort to get the images to move. At the time the iPad was relatively new and we were still really impressed at how quickly babies who could barely hold a crayon could master a touchscreen.

Kids Who Need a Little Help to Make Friends - Child Mind Institute

Every parent knows schoolyard friendships are important. Friends enrich our lives, boost our self-esteem, and provide the moral support we need when we're memorizing multiplication tables. Developmentally speaking, making a friend in school is every bit as important as getting an A.
