I am truly honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Winslow Township High School. It is a privilege to join this vibrant school community, and I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our students, staff, families, alumni, and community partners.

A little about me: I am originally from the beautiful island of St. Lucia and am the proud mother of two adult daughters. My 23-year-old daughter is preparing to begin medical school at AUC School of Medicine, and my 19-year-old daughter is a sophomore nursing student at Widener University. When I am not working, I enjoy traveling and exploring new cultures, reading, and listening to inspirational music.

I bring more than 24 years of experience in education, including approximately 15 years in school and district leadership. I began my career as a science teacher and have since served as an assistant principal, principal, and district-level curriculum leader in California, New York, and New Jersey. Most recently, I served as principal of Gloucester County Institute of Technology. I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with a focus on expanding career pathways and opportunities for students.

My passion for education was inspired by my sixth-grade teacher, whose encouragement helped me recognize my potential and believe in what was possible for my future. That experience shaped my β€œwhy” and continues to guide my work today. I believe that a student’s future should never be determined by their zip code, background, or socioeconomic circumstances. Every student deserves access to an excellent education, caring adults, high expectations, and opportunities that prepare them for success in college, careers, and life.

My educational philosophy is rooted in student-centered leadership, equity, strong relationships, transparency, accountability, and collaboration. I believe schools thrive when students feel seen, supported, challenged, and valuedβ€”and when staff members are empowered with the resources, professional learning, and encouragement they need to do their best work.

I am especially thankful for the incredibly warm welcome I have received from Interim Superintendent Mr. Mark Pease, Assistant Superintendent Ms. Sheresa Clement, our district administrators, and the administrators throughout the other schools in Winslow Township School District. Their kindness, encouragement, and willingness to collaborate have made my transition into the district both meaningful and exciting. I am grateful to be part of a district united by a shared vision of increasing student excellence through coherence and collaboration.

As we move forward, I hope to build upon the many strengths and traditions of WTHS while expanding academic and career pathways, strengthening school pride, celebrating student and staff accomplishments, and deepening our partnerships with families and the community. Together, we will create an environment where every student can discover their talents, pursue their goals, and soar.

The future of the Winslow Township School District is bright, and I am thrilled to be part of all that lies ahead! I am proud to be an Eagle and excited about what we will accomplish together as we continue β€œPreparing Our Students for Tomorrow…Today.” πŸ¦…πŸ’šπŸ’›

I am excited and honored to join the Winslow Township High School community as an Assistant Principal. Having grown up in South and Central America, as well as New York City and Chicago, I developed a deep appreciation for diversity, culture, language, and the unique experiences that shape who we are. My strong bilingual background and many years of experience as a bilingual teacher and bilingual instructional coach have shaped my approach to education and leadership. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education and Intercultural Studies from Houghton (University) and my Master’s degree in School Administration from Rowan University.

My β€œwhy” is simple: helping all students succeed by drawing out the talents of our staff and students and the diverse assets of our families and communities. I believe an asset-based approachβ€”recognizing and building upon the strengths people already bringβ€”is essential to creating a school where everyone can thrive.

I am a creative thinker and love incorporating creativity into my work. As an author, poet, and musician, I believe creativity can inspire connection and help us approach challenges in new ways. I also believe the best work happens when we work as a team, listen to one another, and build on each other’s strengths.

I am excited about the vision of our administrative team and the district, and I look forward to contributing to that vision while building strong relationships with our students, staff, families, and community. Outside of school, I love spending time with my beautiful wife and our three children.

My name is Jamil McEnnis, and I am entering my 16th year in education and my fifth year as an assistant principal. I come to Winslow Township High School after serving for two years as an assistant principal at Winslow Township School No. 6 and School No. 4. Prior to joining Winslow Township, I spent two years as an assistant principal at Highland Regional High School. Before becoming an administrator, I spent 11 years in the classroom teaching high school English, journalism, and public speaking.

I am a graduate of Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Media, and Grand Canyon University, where I earned a master’s degree in Education Administration.

I became an educator because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. I believe education is about more than academics; it is about helping students discover their strengths, develop confidence, overcome challenges, and recognize their potential.

I also became an educator because I wanted to β€œpay it forward.” Throughout my own journey, I was fortunate to have great teachers, mentors, coaches, and administrators who invested in me, challenged me, encouraged me, and helped shape the person I became. I want to have that same impact on the next generationβ€”to pour into our young people, believe in them, and help them recognize what they are capable of achieving.

I believe every student deserves a high-quality education in a school environment where they feel safe, valued, challenged, and supported. My role as an assistant principal is to execute the vision set forth by the building principal and district administration while helping create the conditions in which students and staff can thrive. I view educational leadership as a responsibility to serve others, build meaningful relationships, maintain high expectations, and ensure that every decision is centered on what is best for students.

Strong schools are built by strong educators who believe in collaboration, feedback, and professional support. I am committed to supporting our teachers and staff by fostering a culture of teamwork, trust, and continuous growth. I believe effective leadership requires listening, learning, communicating clearly, and working collectively toward shared goals.

My goal is to help create a school culture where students are held accountable while still feeling that they belong and have opportunities to learn and improve. Ultimately, I want our students to grow academically, socially, and personally so that when they leave WTHS, they are prepared for success in all their future endeavors. Whether they pursue college, a career, military service, technical training, or another path, I want every student to leave with the knowledge, skills, confidence, resilience, and character necessary to navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.

On a personal note, I am the proud father of a wonderful 13-year-old daughter. When I am not taking her to volleyball clinics and dance classes, I enjoy reading, watching documentaries, cooking, and lifting weights. I am excited to join the Winslow Township High School administrative team and look forward to serving our students, staff, families, and the entire Eagle community.

I am honored to begin my fourth year as a member of the Administrative Team at Winslow Township High School, where I proudly serve as an Assistant Principal. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rutgers University and began my career in education as a biology teacher and wrestling coach, serving students in Mercer County for ten years. After completing my School Leadership certification through NJExcel, I was fortunate to begin the next chapter of my career with the Winslow Township School District.

Throughout my personal and professional journey, I have had the privilege of traveling, experiencing different cultures, and learning from people with a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. These experiences have reinforced my belief that teamwork is essential to success and that every individual brings unique strengths and talents to the collective. Most importantly, I have learned that we share far more in common than we have differences. Diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and I am committed to creating opportunities for every student at Winslow Township High School to discover, develop, and showcase the talents that make them unique.

I am excited about the continued direction of Winslow Township High School and proud to work alongside an administrative team, faculty, and staff dedicated to providing our students with meaningful educational experiences. My goal is to help create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, valued, and inspired to grow into successful young adults. I look forward to continuing to work with our students, families, staff, and community to make Winslow Township High School a place where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children, serving my local community, carpentry, and gardening.

I have dedicated more than two decades to education and the development of young people. In addition to teaching Mathematics in Camden for 13 years, coaching basketball for seven years I have eight years of experience as an Assistant Principal before beginning my journey as the Athletic Director at Winslow Township High School. I obtained my Master of Education in School Leadership from Wilmington University in 2005 and Bachelor of Science from Coppin State University in 2000.

I'm currently entering my fourth year leading Winslow Township Athletic Programs. The most rewarding part of education is simple: seeing the smiles on the faces of students. Those moments of accomplishment and joy are what make the long hours and hard work worthwhile.

Outside of my professional life, my greatest blessing, pride and joy are my four sons. Oldest is Paris, who is a freshman at the University of New Haven, where he plays football. My second son, Zaire, is a freshman at Williamstown High School, and my youngest two are four-year-old identical twins Blake and Braxton.

As the AD at Winslow I want my student athletes to know. β€œI see all of you. I appreciate all of you. And I believe in all of youβ€”beyond wins and losses.”

Listening, Learning, and Growing Together! Listening, Learning, and Growing Together!

During my first week at Winslow Township High School, I began a β€œListening Tour” to connect with the people who make our school community so special. I have enjoyed meaningful conversations with district and building administrators, teacher leaders, representatives from the teachers’ association, the HSA Executive Board, security officers, and support staff.

The purpose of these conversations is simple: to listen and learn. I want to hear about our community’s priorities, celebrate what is already working well, understand areas of concern, and learn how our administrative team can best support everyone. By working collaboratively, we can continue elevating student achievement and helping our students grow academically, socially, and behaviorally.

This Listening Tour has already been incredibly valuable, offering different perspectives and a deeper appreciation for the people, programs, and traditions that make WTHS such a unique and thriving community. I am grateful to everyone who has taken the time to speak openly, share ideas, and welcome me so warmly.

The conversations are just getting started! Over the next few weeks and into the beginning of the school year, students, staff, and families will have opportunities to meet with me, celebrate our school’s successes, and share ideas about how we can continue pursuing excellence in every area.

Would you like to join the conversation? Be on the lookout for upcoming dates in next week’s newsletter. I am excited to hear from you as we listen, learn, and soar together! πŸ¦…

Safety In Color: Our New ID and Lanyard System! πŸ¦… Safety In Color: Our New ID and Lanyard System! πŸ¦…

The safety and security of our Eagle family continue to be a top priority at Winslow Township High School. Beginning this school year, we will introduce a new color-coded ID and lanyard system to help everyone quickly identify the students, staff, and approved guests in our building.

Know the Colors

  • πŸ’š Green β€” Students and staff

All students and staff will receive a Winslow ID and green Winslow lanyard, which must be worn visibly around the neck at all times while in the building.

  • ❀️ Red β€” Parents and visitors

  • 🧑 Orange β€” Substitute staff members

  • πŸ’™ Blue β€” Contractors and vendors

Designed with Safety in Mind

All lanyards include a breakaway safety feature, allowing them to release if pulled or caught. This feature provides an added level of safety while allowing IDs to remain visible and easy to identify.

IDs and Replacement Fees

Each student and staff member will receive their first Winslow ID and green lanyard at no cost. A $5 replacement fee will apply if an ID or lanyard is lost or needs to be replaced.

Visitor Check-In

All parents, visitors, substitutes, contractors, and vendors must check in at the Main Office and present a valid, government-issued photo ID. They will then receive the appropriate color-coded lanyard, which must be worn visibly around the neck for the entire time they are in the building.

This new procedure adds another important layer of security by helping our school community quickly recognize who is authorized to be on campus.

We appreciate the cooperation of our students, staff, families, and visitors as we work together to keep WTHS safe, welcoming, and ready for learning.

Remember: Wear it proudly, wear it visibly, and help keep our Eagle family safe!

New Bell-to-Bell Device Procedures For 2026–2027 πŸ“΅ New Bell-to-Bell Device Procedures For 2026–2027 πŸ“΅

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

Beginning on the first day of school, Winslow Township High School will implement new procedures in accordance with New Jersey law (P.L. 2025, c.195). The law prohibits the non-academic use of personal internet-enabled electronic devices throughout the entire school day.

The goal is to reduce distractions and create a learning environment that promotes student engagement, academic achievement, positive social interaction, and overall well-being.

Student Device Pouches

Each student will receive an individual locking pouch at no cost. Students may leave personal devices at home or secure all devicesβ€”including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and wireless earbudsβ€”in their assigned pouch before entering school. The locked pouch will remain in the student’s possession throughout the day.

Morning Arrival

Students must lock their devices in their pouches before entering through one of the following designated locations:

  • Auditorium Entrance: All parent/guardian drop-off students

  • D Hallway Entrance: Students will report to the auditorium until the first bell

  • Main Gymnasium Entrance: Breakfast entry

  • Cafeteria Entrance: Student drivers and breakfast entry

Students will remain in the entry locations until the first bell at 7:15am.

Staff at the entry locations will verify that devices are secured and that students are wearing their school-issued ID on a green Winslow lanyard around their neck. Students will receive one complimentary ID and lanyard on the first day of school.

Students arriving after 7:19 a.m. must enter through the Main Office Lobby and secure their devices in the presence of Main Office staff before reporting to class.

Forgotten or Lost Pouches

Students who arrive without their assigned pouch must surrender all personal internet-enabled devices to the Main Office for secure storage until dismissal. After three consecutive school days without a pouch, the original pouch will be considered lost. The student will receive a replacement pouch and be assessed the applicable replacement fee.

Dismissal

Staffed unlocking stations will be available at the Auditorium, D Hallway, and Main Gymnasium exits. Students must unlock their pouches and retrieve their devices before boarding buses, entering vehicles, or leaving campus.

The Winslow Township High School Home and School Association (HSA) is excited to begin another year of activities that support our students, teachers, and school communityβ€”and parents and guardians are invited to get involved!

Whether you attend monthly meetings, volunteer at an event, assist with fundraising, make a donation, or join the email list, every contribution makes a difference. The HSA understands that families have busy schedules, so any level of participation is welcomed and appreciated.

A Message From The WTHS-HSA President A Message From The WTHS-HSA President

The Winslow Township High School HSA is made up of a group of parents, teachers, and administrators who provide support to all grade levels. Our meetings will be held in person with a virtual option at the high school on either the first or second Tuesday of each month from 6:30–7:30 p.m. We have a school administrator present for each meeting. There, you will be able to learn more about what is going on in the school and have the opportunity to help make decisions about how we support our students and teachers.

We understand that everyone has busy lives, so any support will be appreciated. Volunteering, fundraising, and donations are how we remain viable. You can contact the HSA by email at WTHSHSA@gmail.com or through our Facebook page, Winslow High School Parents Unite. Please consider becoming an active member of the HSA by attending our monthly meetings and joining our email distribution list.

Our largest fundraiser and community event is Santa Saturday, when we welcome Winslow families for a wonderful celebration where children can take pictures with Santa, complete crafts, have their faces painted, and enjoy other activities. This event is run entirely by parents, teachers, and student volunteers from our school.

The fundraiser helps us support Project Graduation, an annual drug- and alcohol-free celebration for our graduating seniors. Last year, we sent our seniors to Dave & Buster’s at the Gloucester Outlets for hours of games, music, prizes, and food. Transportation was provided to and from the event, and students paid only $10 to reserve their spots. The location may change from year to year based on the HSA’s budget and costs. Fundraising is essential to helping us continue this special tradition for our seniors.

Along with Project Graduation, the HSA supports Freshman Orientation, Student of the Month, Teacher Appreciation, and senior graduation practice.

We wish you and your family a blessed school year and look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming meetings. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Lakaisha Ajaegbulemh
