Meet Our New Social Worker

We are fortunate at Churchill to be able to have a school psychologist and two social workers to meet the social emotional needs of our students. Though not new to Churchill, Mrs. Aveece Wesley has taken a new position as a social worker. We could not be more excited to see her contribute to our team in this way! Please see more details about her below.

Fall Benchmarking and Assessments

In the first weeks of school, staff will be working with students to assess their beginning of the school year skills. These benchmarking activities and assessments will help our team know what next steps to take to see each and every student GROW! Our goal this year is to see 70% of our students meet their reading and math growth goals.

Open House

You are invited! We will be having an Open House on Thursday, 9/8 from 4:30-5:30pm. You will have the opportunity to learn more about Churchill and your child's classroom. If your family would like to access the information remotely, teachers will be emailing all families the admin/office, teacher, and specials/PE videos and any other supporting documents.

News from Tech

Our 5th grade students have received their devices and are responsible for bringing them to and from school, as well as charging them each night. 3rd and 4th grade students are using their devices in class and learning how to use and care from them while at school. 3rd and 4th grade students will begin bringing their devices to and from school sometime after Open House. Eventually, all students will have homework that will require their device. Please review the video below for tech use and care expectations.

SHIELD Testing

Churchill will once again be conducting SHIELD testing as a COVID mitigation this upcoming school year. SHIELD is a saliva test that screens for COVID-19. The goal is to catch people who are asymptomatic, but positive before they unknowingly spread COVID-19 to others. Testing will take place on Wednesdays during your child's Specials or PE class. All students will test unless an opt-out form is completed. Please complete this form if you do not wish your child to be tested.
