From the Principal's Desk
Dear Salt Creek Families,
It is hard to believe we are already into October! As the fall weather settles in, please remember to send your child to school prepared for changing temperatures. Some mornings can be chilly even when the afternoons warm up, so sending a sweatshirt, light jacket, or coat is always a good idea. We will continue to get our students outside for recess whenever the weather allows, and we want to make sure everyone is comfortable and able to enjoy their time outside. As always, please remember to label jackets, sweatshirts, and other belongings with your child's name.
I also want to thank everyone for helping make our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up process run smoothly. Your patience and cooperation make a big difference, especially with so many students arriving and leaving at the same time. As a reminder, if you are dropping your child off, please use the inside drop-off lane, pull forward as far as possible, and have your child exit the vehicle and walk into school. If you would like to park and walk your child up to the building, please park in one of the available parking spaces and walk them up rather than stopping in the drop-off lane.
Most importantly, please continue to drive slowly and carefully while entering and exiting our parking lot and drop-off areas. We know mornings can be busy, and everyone has places they need to be, but being a few minutes late is never worth putting the safety of a student, family member, or staff member at risk. Thank you for slowing down, staying alert, and helping us keep our parking lot safe for everyone.
Our kindergarten through second-grade students are finishing up their i-Ready testing, and I want to recognize what a great job they have done! Our students have worked hard, stayed focused, and given their best effort throughout the testing process. We are very proud of them! The information we gather from these assessments helps our teachers better understand where students are academically and how we can best support their continued learning and growth throughout the school year.
I also want to send a huge thank you to all of our families who donated candy to help “Feed Our Monsters!” We truly appreciate your generosity and the incredible support you continue to show our school. All the candy collected will be used at our upcoming Family Fall Night, and we look forward to a fun evening with our Salt Creek families. Thank you for helping us make these special events possible for our students!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We have had a great start to the year at Salt Creek, and I appreciate everything our families do to help make our school such a positive and welcoming place for our Little Vikings. We are looking forward to all of the fun and learning still ahead this fall!

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.
Bus Information
First Student
Please be advised that there are times when our buses are running late. First Student will notify us of any time delays so we can notify parents of the status. Sometimes a situation can happen when the school office is closed. School office hours are from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm. In this case, you may contact First Student at 630-279-2720. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students must have a parent or other adult meet them at the bus stop every day after school.
I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
