Weekly Westwood Community Bulletin - Week of 10/25

Westwood Week 12 Family Update ❤️

Dear Westwood Families,

Happy Week 12! We have another exciting week ahead at Westwood, and I want to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us for our Westwood Harvest Festival! It was wonderful welcoming our families to campus and seeing everyone come together to enjoy the festivities. A huge thank-you to our Westwood PTO and all the parents who donated candy, prizes, and food to help make the event such a success. We truly appreciate your generosity and support!

❤️ Red Ribbon Week is Here!

This week, we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week and the importance of making healthy choices and living a drug-free life. Students are encouraged to participate in our daily spirit days, and classes will also be participating in our door decoration contest. We look forward to seeing everyone's creativity and school spirit as we work together to remind our students to make safe, healthy choices!

📚 Report Cards Coming Soon

Report cards will be coming home in two weeks. This is a great opportunity to talk with your child about their learning, celebrate their growth, and continue encouraging them to do their best each day.

🏃 Looking Ahead

We also have some exciting events coming up, including our Healthy Heart Challenge and the Annual Westwood Turkey Trot! These events are wonderful opportunities to promote healthy habits, school spirit, and a strong sense of community.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for all the ways you support our students and school. We are grateful to have such a wonderful school community and look forward to another great week at Westwood!

Warmly,

Mrs. Azevedo

📣 An Important Message for Westwood Families

As a Title I school, Westwood is required to share our Parent and Family Engagement Policy with families. This policy outlines how we will work together to support student success and create meaningful opportunities for families to be involved in our school community.

📖 Please take a moment to review the policy included in this week's S'more.

Your voice and participation matter! We value your partnership and welcome your ideas about how we can continue to strengthen family engagement at Westwood.

Together, we can help every Westwood student learn, grow, and succeed! 💙

Have You Reported Your Students' Absence? Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?

Please work with us to Board Policy states that a student is allowed 14 illness days for the school year. After this time a medical note is required or the absence is NOT excused.

Examples of unexcused absences include missing school due to:

  • Going out of town or on vacation
  • Attending weddings
  • Oversleeping
  • A parent/guardian/sibling having an appointment
  • Not having a babysitter
  • Attending a graduation

Guardians have 10 days to clear an absence before it is considered unexcused regardless of reason. After 10 days, the absence cannot be changed.

If a child is on an intra-district transfer from another school, regular attendance is mandatory and required to approve the intra-district agreement.
