The Final Countdown ๐ŸŒธ

Itโ€™s hard to believe, but we are already in the final weeks of the school year! This is an important time as students are finishing strong, demonstrating everything they have learned, and continuing to grow.

At Hamlow, we are focused on keeping routines consistent, reinforcing positive behaviors, and making the most of every day. Your continued support at home, encouraging good habits, positive attitudes, and strong effort, makes a huge difference.

Thank you for partnering with us. We are so proud of all the hard work our students have put in this year, and we are excited to finish the year strong together!

Viking Learners ๐Ÿ“š

We are beginning our end-of-year assessments. This is a critical time, as we use this information to gauge student growth over the course of the year, reflect on our work, and understand the impact of our teaching and learning.

Below is our end-of-year testing schedule:

  • CogAT โ€“ 2nd Grade Students: April 29 โ€“ May 1

  • DIBELS โ€“ All Students: May 4 โ€“ May 8

Thank you for your continued support during this important time. Ensuring students are well-rested and ready each day makes a big difference!

Expectations & Celebrations ๐Ÿ™‚

Q3 Vike Life May 16 - the following awards will be handed out:

Hallway Heros

Best Bathroom

Whistle Winners

Spick and Span

Lunchroom Leaders

As schedules begin to shift both at home and at school, itโ€™s common to see an increase in behaviors at this time of year. While there are factors we canโ€™t always control, we can guarantee that at school we will continue to provide a structured, predictable environment with high expectations and consistent responses to both positive behaviors and behaviors that need redirection.

Our focus remains on supporting students, maintaining routines, and setting them up for a strong and successful finish to the school year.

Counselor Notes ๐Ÿ’›

Dear Caregivers,

This week in our guidance class lesson, we will talk about personal safety. Our lesson will focus on helping students understand how to recognize when something is unsafe and what they can do to protect themselves.

We will learn that students can be Safety Superheroes by following five important steps:

1.Noticing when their Personal Alarm System turns on

2.Recognizing safe and unsafe touches

3.Understanding the difference between happy surprises and unsafe secrets

4.Knowing which safe adults they can talk to

5.Using the Think, Say, Do self-protection plan when something feels wrong

Students will practice identifying safe and unsafe scenarios and will learn that if something unsafe ever happens, it is never their fault. They also will learn that secrets about touching, or anything that makes them feel uncomfortable, should always be shared with a trusted adult.

Our goal is to make sure every student knows how to stay safe and has the confidence to ask for help if they need it. If you have any questions about the lesson or would like resources to support these conversations at home, please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out.

In partnership,

Mrs. Wynn- School Counselor
