1) Spotlight: Free Husky Football Tickets!
The Olympic Hills PTA is giving away 300 FREE Husky Football Tickets to the game on September 23rd at 7:30pm vs. the California Golden Bears at Husky Stadium.
Tickets must be requested before 8pm on Sunday September 17th. The drawing will take place on September 18th.

2) Fall Kick Off Family Fun Night
We will have games, contests, prizes, information, groups and clubs, educators and staff, and FREE COOKIES!
Find out about clubs, cultural groups, and other opportunities and resources available at OHE. Bring the whole family. We hope you can join us in the Ottertorium (cafeteria) for fun, games, prizes, community, free cookies, and to get to know the school’s resources and opportunities. Bring back the coloring page that was sent home this week to get a free otter sticker and be entered to win a grand prize! We also have additional prizes for winning games and contests happening during the event. If you need a new coloring page, it can be found here or in the PTA box in the office.
3) Volunteering at OHE
It's that time of year! Time to think about all the fun things you want to be involved in at your kid's elementary school.
If you register with SPS to become a volunteer that can work in the school and around kids, you can volunteer in your child's classroom, join in our Friday work parties with other parents and caregivers, volunteer with the Art Docent program (an OHE student FAVORITE), and more!
You can also volunteer and be at the fun stuff that pops up occasionally like Field Trips, Move-a-Thon, Field Day, Movie Nights, there is literally too much to list.
Becoming an SPS registered volunteer is absolutely free, but it does require some paperwork, a background check, and watching a video. It takes a little time for that background check part to be finalized, so we always recommend starting now in case something pops up that you want to be involved in! Once you have it all done, it's good for 2 years, can be easily transferred to other SPS schools, and renewal is a lot faster and easier than the initial setup. Please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator if you register with SPS to volunteer and let them know what you are most interested in so they can let you know about opportunities as they arise that may not be shared with the entire OHE community. Friday Work Parties
Friday Volunteer work parties are starting tomorrow, September 15th, with free coffee and pastries for volunteers!

This is a super fun way to get to know other families in our community and help out the school and teachers with little projects. Work parties are every Friday from 8:00-9:30am. If you have young children with you, feel free to bring them. There’s a little play area in the family resource room where we do projects.
Art Docent Volunteers and Team Members
Our Art Docent program at OHE is in it's 7th year and provides amazing and fun art history curriculum featuring an artist plus an activity aimed at letting the kids play with making art in the style of that artist. The kids at the school look forward to getting their day for art docent in a way that mirrors receiving a gift which it truly rewarding and a testament to the program! Each class gets one day in the fall, and one in the spring, so two artists are featured every year.
CJ and Bronwen, the amazing and ridiculously fun and funny volunteers who have headed up this program for the past 6 years, have a robust curriculum in place with 6+ years of experience and they are looking for two things (no art or art history knowledge necessary):
1) They need volunteers to help out occasionally, on Fridays, to bring the program to the various classrooms and work with students to create the art and hang it for display in the halls of OHE (the school gallery is an astounding thing to see if you've never been in the school during art docent time).
2) They are also looking for another team member or two. They would like to put the ask out for someone who could be at the school most Fridays October through December, and then again February through May who they could collaborate with and bounce ideas off of and could help them plan and run the program.
