Hello Northglade Families,

This week we will be having our Open House. It will take place on Thursday, September 11 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Hopefully you and your families can come and join us. This is a time for families to come see their student's classrooms, the gym, cafeteria and meet the new art teacher, Mrs. Christine Brege. You will be allowed to find out information from teachers, see how your child is adjusting and meet or see many other families.

I will also be giving my Title One presentation as well, where you can ask questions about the school and its systems.

5th graders may pick up their Chromebooks at this time as well. See below for more information.

We hope to see you all here!

5th grade Chromeboooks

Fifth grade students will receive new Chromebooks and a carrying case this year. They are required to bring it back and forth to school on a daily basis. This is to get them prepared for middle school, in which they will be required to bring the Chromebook back and forth to school daily. However, you do not need to turn in the Chromebook that your 5th grader currently has at home. Feel free to give it to a younger sibling or just to have as an extra at home.

We will hand out new Chromebooks and carrying cases to 5th graders during the Open House. Parents/guardians must sign a Student Acceptable Agreement for the Chromebook before it can be given to students. The agreement is pretty lengthy, therefore, I have attached it below for you to read before Thursday.

Welcome New Art Teacher

We would like to welcome, Christine Brege, our new art teacher to the Northglade Family. She has been teaching for a number of years with KPS and the surrounding areas. She also currently teaches at Winchill. She will be starting this week at Northglade. That being said, some teachers specials schedule has changed. I am sure she will be a great addition to our staff. Please look for information regarding specials from your child(ren) teachers.

Welcome Mrs. Brege!

Educational Benefits Form

Friendly Reminders

When dropping students off in the morning, and there are no adults outside, that means that your child is tardy. It is required that an adult who is dropping them off, come into the building, and sign that child into school.

It is also very important that students stay for the entire day of school. Every moment counts. Please reframe from picking up students before dismissal. Soon, teachers will begin W.I.N. Time , which is currently between 3:00 - 3:30pm. Many students may not be in their classrooms and are working with other teachers. This is a very important time in our building because teachers focus on exactly what students are in need of. So please keep this in mind.

Also, if you have dismissal changes, please call the office before 3:00 pm to insure that the message will get to the teacher. We can not guarantee that if you call after 3:00 that we can get the message to the teacher before dismissal.

Please remember to complete the Educational Benefits Form that was last week. We ask families to still fill out the Education Benefit Form (EBF) , regardless of financial status. Filling out the EBF helps KPS maintain our current funding levels. We appreciate your assistance in filling out the EBF.

Without this information from every family, KPS could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to. These supplemental grants and programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:

  • Instructional staff (ex. Reading Interventionists, Math, Academic and Behavior Aids)
  • Counselors, Social Workers and School Nurses
  • Professional Learning for staff
  • Technology

Thank you in advance!
