Lutherville Families,

Even though it was only 4 days, we packed a lot of learning and fun in this week at Lutherville Lab!

This week we are celebrating the efforts of our Multi-Lingual Learners! Their recent assessment results show they have made tremendous growth this year with the support of Ms. Adam, our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher, and their classroom teachers. We are especially celebrating 6 students whose English proficiency has improved so much that they no longer qualify for ESOL services! That is a pass-rate of 23% for Lutherville Lab, more than 3 times the BCPS pass-rate! Way to go Leopards!

We are also proud of our K-2 Leopards who persevered through our first real summer heat this afternoon to enjoy their Sports Day! The water games and stations were especially popular. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly and to Mr. Bruns for all his organizational efforts.

Next week is another fun-filled week with class picnics, KG celebration, 5th grade Farewell, and Food Truck Night on Thursday, Volunteer Appreciation breakfast on Friday.

Next Friday will be our last Lab Report of the School Year. A reminder that June 12th and 13th are 1:05 dismissal days for teachers to have time to enter grades and pack-up rooms for summer cleaning.

Have a great weekend, Leopard Families!

In partnership,

-Mr. McComb

Food Truck Night!

Our Spring Food Truck Night is coming up on June 8th from 5-8pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church located at 1609 Kurtz Ave. Kona Ice, Kommie Pig, Just Like Home, Taco Bar and Lyfe Cafe with us this time.

We can't wait to be with our school family one last time before summer is here!

Yearbooks will be distributed to students prior to our FTN, so they can bring them along for friends to sign.

We could also use some volunteers to help out at the event. If you think you may be able to help, please check out the sign up.

Remember that we will also be holding our last general meeting at 6pm (near our spiritwear table) that evening to conduct some end of year business which includes voting in our next president and vice president.

Sports Day, the K-2 Remix!! Sports Day, the K-2 Remix!!

Seeking Parent Ambassadors

In an effort to increase a sense of welcome and belonging for families new to the Lutherville Lab community, we are seeking parents who can serve as a resource to families new to our school. As a Lutherville parent, you could be very helpful in welcoming new families to the school community and providing insight about navigating the school year. New families could benefit from hearing about your experiences with the school transportation system, PTA-sponsored events like Food Truck Night, school field trips, before- and after-school clubs, special education, snow days, childcare arrangements at the school, and the many other connections you may have to Lutherville Lab.

Parent Ambassadors would volunteer to have their contact information (email and cell number) shared with new families based on criteria set forth by the ambassador. For instance, a parent might share that they would like to be an ambassador for new families that live in Orchard Hills and/or have a child with a disability; another parent that they live at The Hills at Kenilworth and/or have a common Japanese cultural connection; another parent that they live outside of Lutherville and their child accesses supports in the SEL program; another parent that they live in Historic Lutherville and/or have a common Hispanic cultural connection.

This information would be retained in a database only for office staff to access. When families register their children, Lutherville Lab office staff (Mrs. McDevitt and Mr. Planter) can offer the connection opportunity and contact information based on the new family’s registration information.

If you are interested in being a parent ambassador, please complete the Parent Ambassador Interest Form
