Bus Behavior

If you have students at the middle school or Deer Hill, you will have seen the message below in Mr. Mills or Mrs. Sullivan's newsletters. We continue to collaborate to be sure we consistently reinforce School Committee policies so that we can keep students safe and comfortable at school.

We want everyone to be safe and comfortable as they travel to and from school. While the bus ride can be an opportunity for students to socialize, it is also important to remember that we expect students to exhibit the same behavioral expectations on the bus as we do every day within our school building. As we approach the second half of the school year, we’d like to take this time to remind both students and parents about the important bus expectations that help keep everyone safe and respectful during their commute.

Students are only allowed to ride their assigned bus and must be on time, as bus drivers cannot wait for latecomers. Riders must board and exit at regular stops and are not allowed to go home on a friend’s bus. Respect for private property, following the bus driver’s directions, and maintaining proper behavior are key to ensuring a smooth ride for all. Excessive noise, profanity, food, and drink are not allowed on the bus, and students should keep their hands to themselves, avoiding any behavior that may disturb other passengers. Throwing objects, climbing over seats, leaning out of windows, or littering are all prohibited. Lastly, the school’s rules about technology remain in effect—students should not take photos or videos without permission. By reinforcing these expectations at home, we can ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable bus experience for all.

Resource Manual- an note from our School Committee

Cohasset is a community comprised of experts in a wide variety of fields. In order to deliver more authentic, hands-on, project-based learning experiences to students, the Cohasset School Committee, in collaboration with district leadership, is working to develop a "Community Resource Guide." This Guide will serve as an invaluable resource to our classroom teachers and school staff, as it will provide them with a comprehensive database of all stakeholders and interested parties who are willing to share their background, experience, and expertise in furtherance of our mission to Empower Students to Improve Communities.

There are many different ways in which one might participate in this endeavor, including classroom presentations, hosting or facilitating field trips, creating shadow or internship opportunities, or assisting with project-based learning experiences.

If you are willing to share your unique talents, passions, interests, and/or expertise, please click this link to fill out a brief interest form. We thank you for your willingness to volunteer your time in order to deliver impactful learning experiences to CPS students.

Purposeful Play & Responsible Risk Taking: March Challenge

Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, I join Superintendent Shannon in inviting you to join in on our March activities. This month, our challenges are:

Purposeful Play Challenge

March is here! Daylight lasts longer, I can hear the peepers, and the plants are popping up. Take advantage of the warmer weather and sunshine and take a family walk on the beach! While you're there, skip some rocks, build a sandcastle, or have a catch.

Responsible Risk Taking Challenge

This month is all about getting outside in the warmer weather and sunshine. Find a spot to take a hike. There are so many great spots locally -Turkey Hill, Wheelwright, Great Esker Park, Blue Hills, Borderland State Park. Choose a hike that is at the right challenge level for you and your child and let them try something new ~ climb a new rock, climb a tree, explore a new pay.

Please feel free to email me pictures of your family engaging in the challenges. I'd love to build a collage each month to share in the SMORE and put on the jumbotron screen that displays pictures by the big stairs. The kids love seeing themselves on the screen!

The 7th Annual ‘Cohasset Earth Day Clean-Up’ date is Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Please join your Cohasset community in celebrating Earth Day 2025 by participating in the annual "Cohasset Earth Day Clean-up" beautification project!

Sponsored by the Open Space & Recreation Committee, Cohasset residents will rally to remove non-biodegradable, single-use trash and debris that crowd our parks, shorelines, and neighborhoods. To receive a cleaning assignment, please stop by the Cohasset Recreation Department between 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at 100 Sohier Street.

The Open Space & Recreation Committee will help assign workers an area to clean. Trash bags and ‘pickers’ will be provided but please bring your own gloves. All trash collected will be deposited in an onsite dumpster. Thank you for your participation … it takes a village!

Tell a Friend!

Please spread the word about kindergarten registration. The sooner folks register, the more we can share about kindergarten orientation and plan for a successful 2025-26 school year.

Safe Snack List

For the safety of all students, please use this list to choose snacks that are allowed at the Osgood School. We do have a nut free table in the cafeteria, so this guidance is just for snacks, which are most often eaten in classrooms. The list was generated to avoid having our school nurses check all students' snacks each day to be sure they are safe.

Please pack your child's snack separate from their lunch.

Transportation

For information regarding school transportation, please visit the transportation page on the new CPS website. All students must be registered through transportation to ride the bus. However, buses are full at this time and they are placing students on wait lists.
