HAPPY FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL (LCAP Goal 2)
It happened! After nearly a year and a half of having a quiet campus, the hallways of Gabilan are full of students, teachers, and smiles once again! It feels so amazing to have some normality and also some strong learning taking place! I am so proud of all the students. They are adjusting to being back in the classroom beautifully! It is wonderful seeing all of the teachers and staff move with such enthusiasm and excitement as our students return. You can feel the enthusiasm and learning pulsing through our classrooms! Dare I say, it feels as though we have hit our stride and it genuinely feels as though we have been back a few weeks instead of a few days?! I am so PROUD of this amazing team!
Curriculum Reminder (LCAP Goal 2)
Our Williams visit is approaching quickly! If you are still in need of core teaching materials, please let me know. We want to make sure that you have all of the materials you need to deliver your lessons, as well as be Williams Compliant. The Williams Visit is a surprise visitation but is expected for around the week of September 6th.
First IEP Marathon Complete (LCAP Goal 2)
On Thursday, we completed our first IEP marathon of the school year thanks to Adriel, Stephanie, Saralinda and Sandy! This SPED team is truly one of a kind and so amazing! They are knowledgable, innovative, always put students first, and are able to assist our families with all of their needs with such grace! I am so PROUD to be part of such an amazing team! Cheers to the first one completed in the books! Looking forward to helping many more of our students in the future during them!
PLC (Goal 2)
During our beginning of the year professional development at Gabilan we focused on reviving and rejuvenating our PLC practices! We reviewed the pillars of PLC as a team and discussed where we left off prior to COVID-19 and where we are headed now! We met with our grade levels first to determine what we as a grade level taught well, what we needed to teach a bit more and what we didn’t get to at all. We then vertically aligned with the grade level above and below us to collect information on our students and create a plan for reaching the standards that they need to achieve by the end of the year in order to be on track for the next grade level. From there, we met again with our grade level teams and met to discuss our boulder standards, the essential of the essential, that we will focus in on as a grade level in order for our students to grow in such a way that propels them into successful learning no matter what. Each grade level team established a plan and we are off to a great start! Great job teachers for creating a game plan for our students! Next, we will revisit CFAs and determine our next steps for ensuring we are utilizing our grade level meetings in such a way that maximize student learning around results/teaching based assessment data.
