We are beyond grateful to the PTA for making something truly special possible at our school! Thanks to their support, the Library Media Center has teamed up with Rent the Chicken to bring the magic of life cycles to our students.
We’ve had the incredible opportunity to watch seven eggs incubate, hatch, and grow right before our eyes!
Since February 25th, our students have been following the journey of the eggs—whether in person or via our YouTube livestream. This week, the moment we’ve all been waiting for arrived: five little chicks have hatched, with two more expected soon. But this experience has become so much more than just observing—it’s sparked curiosity and creativity throughout the school!
Students have been reading stories to the eggs and chicks, creating artwork to leave by the incubator, and eagerly running to school each day to see what’s new. We’ve also dove into nonfiction books to explore questions like: What makes these eggs different from those we buy at the store? How do chicks break out of their shells? What do they eat, and do they feel cramped inside the incubator? These inquiries have sparked many exciting discoveries about life and nature.
This hands-on project has been a joy for everyone involved, and it’s a wonderful reminder of the power of learning through real-life experiences. It’s also brought our whole school together in a shared sense of wonder and excitement over the beauty of life cycles in action.
Jungle Book - COMING SOON!
Our talented 4th & 5th grade scholars have been working diligently to bring "The Jungle Book" to life in what promises to be an incredible theatrical performance! The excitement is building as students rehearse their lines, craft colorful props, and tap into their impressive acting skills. Our young performers are channeling their creativity and dedication to transform this beloved classic into a memorable stage production. This month, we are excited to share One Wish by M.O. Yuksel, a beautifully told and illustrated story about Fatima al-Fihri, the remarkable woman who founded the world's first university over 1,000 years ago. Her story is one of perseverance, education, and the power of dreams—perfect for inspiring our students to believe in their ability to make a difference.
We selected this book to celebrate International Women’s Month, the spirit of Ramadan, and, most importantly, the idea that knowledge is a gift meant to be shared. Fatima’s journey reminds us that learning has no boundaries, and with determination, we can all shape a better future.
