MHS Band Weekly Update

It is VERY important that all families register for band camp as soon as possible. This allows us to accurately plan for food, staffing, and other needs during the week.

If you have financial concerns about Band Camp, PLEASE reach out to Mr. Root as soon as possible via email (jroot@marshallpublicschools.org) - there is scholarship money available, and NO STUDENT is denied participation because of money issues. This information is kept completely private. If you need help - PLEASE let me know ASAP!

Who: All 2026-2027 Marshall High School Band members

When: Sunday, August 2 – Friday, August 7 - please put these dates in your calendar!!!

• Please note that camp will end at approx. 8pm – Final performance will be at 7pm

• Students attend from Sunday afternoon through the final performance on Friday evening

• This camp has been scheduled to avoid conflicts with HS athletics

Where: Marshall High School - Students will stay at MHS overnight!!!

Why: Band Camp is critical for our success in the marching season. 85% of what we put on the field in the fall is learned at camp during the summer. For that reason, band camp is a mandatory activity for all 2026-2027 MHS Band members. Please do your best now to not schedule anything during that week that will conflict with camp. Please double-check all work schedules, Dr.’s appointments, and other things that might get in the way. If there are unavoidable conflicts, please contact Mr. Root immediately.

Cost: Cost for the week is $225, with a cap of $350 per family. In case of financial hardship, please contact Mr. Root directly - NO STUDENT WILL BE DENIED PARTICIPATION BECAUSE OF A LACK OF MONEY. This fee covers:

• Food (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

• Music/Drill

• Staff of 10-12 college and professional counselors

• 2026 Marching Band tshirt

• For members who do not have them already, there will also be a charge of $75 to cover our polo shirt, which functions as our “warm weather” uniform, as well as our marching shoes. This additional money can be included in your camp registration check.

• Payment Due Dates:Payment can be made before school ends or during the summer. The total amount ($225) will be due by the first day of camp (August 2) unless other arrangements have been made with Mr. Root
