NEWS & INFORMATION
What a wonderful first week we’ve had! The halls are buzzing with excitement, classrooms are full of smiles, and our students have jumped right into learning, making new friends, and building our school family.
Thank you for getting your students here on time, ready to learn—thank you for helping them start the day strong!
Thank you for partnering with us to make Marshall a place where every student feels safe, supported, and excited to learn. If this week is any indication, we are in for an incredible year together, we look forward to having our preschool - first graders in the building next week!
🌟 Meet Your School Counselor! 🌟
I am so glad to be at Marshall again this year as the School Counselor. As part of your students’ team, I will support your student(s) with academic, social and emotional needs. I will be seeing the students for classroom SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) lessons about twice each month using this research based program: Introduction to Second Step Students can request to see me any time and if there is a need, I will contact you about regular weekly check-ins. We will also have small group counseling opportunities for which teachers or other staff will recommend students. These groups cover specific topics such as social skills, friendship skills, or support for issues such as anxiety, divorce, grief. If you would like your child involved in either individual or group meetings, please reach out.
It's going to be a great year!

🌟 Meet Your School Social Worker! 🌟
Hi! I am excited to be back for my 8th year as the School Social Worker at Marshall Elementary. When I introduce myself and my role to families I often say my job is to support students and families ANYWAY needed (well almost!). Life can be challenging and messy! So please do not hesitate to contact me with any needs or questions at all. I’ll try my best to help, even if it is just listening. Like Mrs. Peter, students can request to see me anytime. If your child might benefit from participating in a small group or scheduled individual meeting with me, I would contact you. My role here includes providing support and resources to students, families, and our broader school community. I work closely with our amazing teachers, administrators, and parents, like you, to ensure the well-being of our students both in and outside of the school setting. As a former Marshall student myself, I love getting to be a part of the Talawanda community and work with all of our students everyday. It is truly an honor.

🌟 Meet Your School-Based Therapist! 🌟
I’m thrilled to be returning for year three as your School Based Mental Health Therapist! Through Talawanda’s partnership with Primary Health Solutions (PHS), my job is to make sure every student feels cared for, understood, and ready to shine.
💬 About School Based Therapy:
• Sessions are at Marshall, during the school day, so there is no need for your student to leave school or for family to miss work to get to an appointment.
• Sessions are typically weekly for 30 minutes, but can vary based on need.
• Services are provided through PHS and billed to insurance.
• Our sessions are designed to feel safe, supportive, and even a little fun! We might talk about feelings, use art or games to practice coping skills, or role-play to work through challenges like friendships or big changes at home or school.
• Each session is paced at your child’s comfort level, with lots of encouragement and positive connection, in a confidential and safe space. My goal is to give them tools to manage emotions, build confidence, and feel supported at school and beyond.
📞 How to Connect:
Reach out to Chrissy Rolfes or Teresa Peter. They’ll talk with you and help connect your child with the supports that will fit their needs best.
💡 A Little About Me:
I’ve had the joy of working in the field alongside children and families, for over a decade!
Fun fact: I’m a former Marshall student—so being here has truly felt like coming home. 💛
Thank you for trusting me to be part of your child’s journey. It’s an honor to learn, grow, and laugh alongside them!
