A Message from Ms. Osmerg
Dear Jaguar Families,
It is hard to believe we are nearing spring break. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents, students and staff for their continued support and hard work through the semester.
Our PTA has treated the staff to a #AHE-mazing Staff Appreciation Week this week! Staff enjoyed a delicious lunch on Monday, coffee/smoothie bar on Tuesday, and brunch today. There is more to come! The kindness and generosity show to our staff by our school community is truly appreciated!
Next Monday, March 31st, we have our Art Show and PTA Bingo Night! No ticket is needed for the Art Show; however, you must pre-purchase Bingo Night tickets. If you would like to purchase food for Bingo Night, this Thursday is the final day to purchase. Please see flyers below!
Thank you to those who have already completed the Family Survey. As of 3/26/25, we are showing low participation for our School Climate Survey for Parents. Please take 5 minutes to complete this important survey. Your input matters! Please see the link below.

Art Show - March 31st!! Pre-purchase to avoid lines!
We invite you to support our school's Online Art Show Fundraiser which promises to be an incredible showcase of your child's talent while aiding our school's needs. Now, more than ever, our school needs your support.
While our primary goal is to celebrate the artistic accomplishments of your children, the Online Art Show Fundraiser will also raise funds to enhance the educational experience at our school. Your contribution will directly benefit your child by providing additional resources, supplies, and opportunities to further their artistic development.
Here is how you can help:
1. Visit our Online Art Show Fundraiser:https://artomestore.com/collections/abbottshillelementaryschool30097
2. Share the event with family and friends.
3. Purchase your child's framed masterpiece. A reproduction also makes a great gift for loved ones.
We are incredibly grateful for your ongoing support and dedication to your child's education.
Thank you so much!

Calling 5th Grade Parents
We’re excited about the upcoming 5th grade talent show but we still need some help to make it a success. Here are two ways you can get involved:
- Second Chair Volunteer: We’re looking for a second chair to assist in keeping track of students during rehearsals and the show. Your role will be to ensure students are where they need to be so everything runs smoothly.
- Committee Volunteers for Decorations: If you have a knack for decorating or would like to help create a fun and vibrant atmosphere for the show, we need volunteers to assist with decorations!
If you're interested in volunteering, please sign up using the link below. Thank you for your support in making this event a memorable experience for our students!

Yes, I Can Award Ceremony
Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to recognize our students with exceptionalities through our annual “Yes, I Can” awards. I was delighted to see the joy on the faces of students, parents and staff who participated in this special recognition ceremony. Again, I extend a thank you to the PTA who helped to fund the celebration.
Rubina S. is the 2024-2025 school representative for the county "Yes, I Can" award ceremony!
Reminders
Carpool Safety
Parents, we need your help ensuring the safety of our students and families. Recently, there have been some safety concerns during morning carpool. Please be reminded of the carpool safety rules/procedures below. In order for us to ensure safety, we need everyone to cooperate.
- Please stay in your cars and refrain from parking and crossing the carpool lane to drop children off. We have had too many "close calls" due to students crossing in front of cars, attended and not attended by parents.
- Please have your student enter and exit the car from the back passenger side.
- Parents should not exit the car in the carpool lane.
- If you have business in the front office, please park in an authorized legal spot.
- Drivers should follow the directions provided by carpool staff.
- Please pull all the way to the front of the carpool lane, please do not stop at the awning to drop off or pick up your student - unless directed to by carpool staff.
- Morning arrival begins at 7:10 and ends at 7:40, a 30 minute window for drop off. Beginning at 7:30, there is a rush and carpool traffic is heavier, therefore increasing the chance that students will be tardy. Please plan to have your student here by 7:30.
- Students should be in their classroom ready to learn when the 7:40 bell rings.
- Please refrain from cell phone usage while driving or in the carpool lane.
Students arriving after the bell
Students arriving after the 7:40 am tardy bell must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to the front office to sign them in. Thank you for your help in this matter. We have had an increase in the number of students being dropped off without a parent or guardian and it has become a safety concern.
Dress Code
Please be reminded of the following information from our Student Handbook:
Students are expected to groom themselves in such a way as to reflect neatness, cleanliness, and good taste. All students shall be modestly groomed so as not to distract the attention of others or to cause disruption or interference with the educational program or the orderly operation of the school. Extremes in dress will not be permitted. The principal or other duly authorized school official shall determine whether any mode of dress or grooming results in violation of the spirit and intent of this rule.
Dropping off items
The "Little Red Cart” is there for you and your family if your student left any item behind at home and you need to deliver it. Please make sure that every item is well identified with your student’s first and last name, teacher’s name and grade. We will bring it back inside around 10:20 AM, in time before the first class goes to lunch.
Identification Required
Remember to bring your ID every time you come into the building. You will need it anytime you are entering the building, whether it is to stay for lunch, attend a Parent Teacher Conference, check your student out, or volunteer.
Transportation Changes
If a student has a need to leave the school in a manner different from his/her normal routine, it will be necessary for the student to bring a letter of permission from the student’s parent/guardian to the classroom teacher. If you have a transportation change for more than one child, please write a note to each teacher for each child (example: siblings, twins, etc.) Transportation changes cannot be made through e-mail or voice mail to the classroom teacher or front office. Should your student forget to bring the note, you must call the school and speak with someone in the front office and supply the necessary information. However, calling to make changes via the telephone should only be done in an emergency situation and not done on a regular basis. NO CHANGES can be accommodated after 1:30 pm.
Early Check Outs
If it is necessary for a student to leave school early, please send a note to the student’s teacher. Sending a note will allow your student to be ready for dismissal and will speed the check-out process. If it is near your student’s lunch time, please indicate on the note if your child should or should not eat lunch and if they will be returning to school. Parents may not check out students to attend Abbotts Hill events, programs, etc. during the school day. A parent/legal guardian must sign out any student leaving before the regular dismissal time through the office. Only parent designees with prior verification may check out students. Be prepared to show your driver’s license when checking out students. Parents should use the bell/buzzer at the front door to contact the office to initiate an early check out. Please do not call the front office and ask for your child to be waiting in the front office, this request cannot be accommodated. Check out requests cannot be accommodated after 2:00 p.m.

2025-2026 School Student Placement Consideration Form
Abbotts Hill Elementary 2025-2026 School Student Placement Consideration Form
https://forms.office.com/r/K5h4JX8kg8
The process for assigning students to classes for the 2025-2026 school year begins in late April/early May of the current school year. All students’ individual needs are considered before they are placed in classes, and a significant amount of effort is devoted to placing each child appropriately. It is not mandatory to complete a Student Placement Consideration Form; however, if a child has a significant medical issue or unique learning needs, parents may choose to share pertinent information with the Placement Team.
If you wish to provide additional information, please complete this online form no later than Friday, April 11th, 2025. We will not accept emails or phone calls regarding class placement. Requests for specific teachers will not be considered, and we will not accept placement requests after the deadline. If there is information regarding your students (i.e. learning needs, academic environment, separate my child from another student, etc...) that you would like the school to consider when placing your child in a classroom, please utilize this form to submit that information. Please be aware that Abbotts Hill teachers are involved in the placement process and will have access to the information provided. The placement team values your input in this process. Please understand that all requests cannot be honored.
