MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

CHS Community,

The 4th quarter is now upon us! Please take a moment to review your student's academic progress in Infinite Campus (IC), as 3rd quarter grades have been finalized.

On Wednesday of this week was very productive, with successful PSAT (8th/9th grade) and ACT (10th/11th grade) testing sessions, as well as student scheduling for the 2025-26 school year. We were pleased with the high attendance and effort demonstrated by our students during testing. We anticipate the results will be available in mid-April. There is a make-up ACT test scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th at 7:35 am for 11th grade students who were unable to take the ACT when it was originally scheduled. If your student would like to attend the make-up session, please contact Karin Hillman via email (karin.hillman@chardonschools.org) to get signed-up.

The guidance department will have paper copies of the test results, and students can also access them through their College Board account (PSAT) or their MyACT account.

Student schedules for the 2025-26 school year are now live in Infinite Campus. Students were initially recommended by teachers for placement in academic classes. Important: If you or your student disagree with their recommended placement, a grade change request form must be completed. This form needs to be signed by both the teacher and a parent/guardian before a school counselor can make any changes. Forms are located in the Media Center and main office.

Please note that class changes moving forward will be on a limited basis. It is crucial that students understand and commit to their current course selections.

All lost and found items will be laid out in the cafeteria next week before spring break. Anything not claimed will be washed and added to the free student boutique or donated to local charities.

Building Schedule Week of March 17

Enjoy your weekend.

CHS ACADEMIC DECATHLON TEAM CHS ACADEMIC DECATHLON TEAM

The CHS Academic Decathlon team traveled to John Carroll University on Friday March 7th and Saturday March 8th for State Competition and came away with 16 medals and an invitation to compete in the USAD online National Competition in April. A silver and three gold medals in Interview and two gold medals in Speech highlights Chardon’s long tradition of strength in the interpersonal events and shows just how well rounded CHS students are. In the Speech event, where competitors perform timed prepared and impromptu speeches in front of judges and a group of their peers, Senior Connor Mosher got a near perfect score of 995 out of 1,000! This was 25 points higher than anyone else at the competition and is the highest speech score ever posted by a Chardon student. Connor was asked to give his speech a second time during the awards ceremony in a packed auditorium as a "speech showcase" where of course, he brought down the house!

“It has been an honor and a privilege to coach the diverse groups of students who have made up the CHS Academic Decathlon teams over these past 14 years and I look forward to following their continued success in the future.” - Coach Al Herner.
