Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th grade students who did a fabulous job focusing and persevering through Math MCAS Assessments this week.

Our incoming kindergarten students will be visiting Byam for kindergarten screening on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We look forward to having the graduating class of 2036 start next year!

This coming week we will be conducting an ALICE drill. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. This is a research-based, options-based protocol that is non-sequential to respond to a dangerous individual at school.

We have collaborated with the Chelmsford Police and Fire Departments on this drill to ensure that it is a developmentally appropriate experience.

After we conduct the drill, we will send a communication to inform you that it has occurred. Should you have any questions about ALICE or about this drill please feel free to contact us.

On Thursday next week, the Chelmsford Fire Department will be visiting Byam for fire safety presentations. Our K-2 students each have a presentation about how to prevent and remain safe in case of a fire.

Schedule for Byam School Field Day:

•1st and 2nd Grade –Thursday June 1st- 9:30-11:30

•3rd and 4th Grade – Thursday June 1st – 1:05-3:05

•Kindergarten – Friday June 2nd- 9:30-10:30

If you are interested in being involved with Field Day by running a station, being a timekeeper, filling water buckets, etc., please go to the following link and sign up for a spot no later than Sunday, May 28th. Please make sure you have a CORI on file with the office.

WALK-A-THON IS TOMORROW MAY 20th, 10:00-2:00

Rain or Shine, the walk-a-thon is the BSA's highest grossing fundraiser, going directly towards enrichment to the student's curriculum. Is your child not a walker? No big deal! We have plenty of other things to do at the event including a DJ dance party, facepainting, and an inflatable maze!! This is a very relaxed event, and you can stop by anytime between 10:00-2:00pm!

We are humbly asking parents to consider volunteering for one small task each year. If your child is attending an event, please keep an eye out for future sign-up forms. Many responsible students can also help with parent supervision! In addition to event volunteers, here are a few larger roles we are looking to fill. We will teach you the ropes and "ease" you in.
