January 26, 2025
Week of January 26, 2025
From the Desk of Our Proud Principal
Good evening, Trojan Families!
This is a message from your proud principal, Mrs. Kinard, and the school leaders at Ferndale Middle School. We strongly encourage you to access the digital version of this announcement, available on our school website and social media. It contains additional important information that you and your students need to know.
Good Evening Trojan Families,
Thank you so much for your patience, flexibility, and support as we’ve navigated the challenges of inclement weather this season. Your cooperation ensures that our students remain safe and ready to learn, and we are so grateful for your partnership.
This is a friendly reminder that Monday, January 27th, will be a Teacher Workday, so there will be no school for students. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 28th, marking the beginning of the third quarter.
As we enter the second half of the school year, it’s important for students to stay focused and continue striving for academic success. The third quarter often presents unique opportunities for growth and reflection, and your support at home can make all the difference. Here are a three simple ways to help your middle schooler thrive during this crucial time:
1. Establish Routines: Set consistent schedules for homework, studying, and bedtime to ensure a balance between school and personal time.
2. Check Grades Weekly: Use PowerSchool to monitor grades and attendance, and talk with your child about their progress.
3. Stay in Touch: Reach out to teachers if you have questions or concerns about your child’s academic or social progress.
As always, we are here to partner with you to ensure your child has the tools and support needed to succeed. Thank you for all you do to make Ferndale Middle School such a special place.
Let’s make this third quarter one to remember!

The Math Department is excited to see our Math scholars demonstrate their Math knowledge and prowess on upcoming district and national assessments. We continue to evaluate the best ways to determine how well scholars have understood and retained math concepts, terms, and vocabulary. They will be take the NWEA Math MAPS and Second District Math Interim Assessment over the next several weeks. The NWEA Math MAPS assessment will compare their scores to other scholars in the same grade across the country while the District Interim Assessment will compare their scores to other scholars in the same grade across the district. There are math assignments online under Grade Level "EOG Prep" if Remote Learning is necessary this week.
