FALCON FAMILIES

FMS FAMILIES,

We hope you and your child(rend) were able to unplug a little over the break. We are ready to conquer week 3 of long distance learning. We appreciate your feedback from the survey I sent out last week. We compiled family and student survey responses, you will see below changes we are making based on feedback. I will be sending out another survey later in the week to again seek feedback on long distance learning.

If you need help with hotspots, instruction, technology troubleshooting, etc please continue contacting us so we can help you.

CLOSURE UPDATE: Many of you have seen the extension of the "STAY HOME STAY SAFE" proclamation to May 4, 2020 from Governor Inslee. School districts will receive an update from OSPI this week regarding how this impacts our schools. Please view the informative update video from OSPI's Chris Reykdal below. As I learn more information I will pass it on to our families.

ONLINE LEARNING ENGAGEMENT: All students should be fully engaged with their online learning by this point in time. We are monitoring students and will directly reach out to the students and families to make sure that all students are actively participating in their classes.

Feedback from Survey

Thank you for taking the time to complete our long distance learning survey, there is another one for you complete at the end of this week. Based on your survey results we are making the following changes:

  • Office hours for each teacher (Zoom, emailing, phone, etc)
  • Grade level slideshow that shows what needs to be completed for the week for each class

I will send out another survey later this week again seeking feedback on any changes we can make, any assistance you may need, any other suggestions, etc. You will have the option to include your email in this weeks survey so we can respond to you directly if there are specific concerns, needs, etc.

QUICK READ FOR PARENTS ON PANDEMIC TOOLKIT

I found this short article beneficial for myself and my family as I have two junior high boys who are also at home doing long distance learning and struggling with what is happening in our world right now.
The Pandemic Toolkit Parents Need

The Pandemic Toolkit Parents Need

Our families will come out of this with greater personal strength and resilience as we follow these eight guidelines during the pandemic.

DISTRICT NEWS

Storytime with a Sheriff: Deputy Dech (one of our amazing School Resource Officers) wanted to share this book with the kids in our community because when she was in school she had what some people thought was a problem – she is dyslexic. It made things challenging for her, the same way it makes things challenging for many other people just like her. But she never gave up, she worked hard, she tried her best, and she learned to turn her challenges into opportunities. You can too and we believe in you! https://www.facebook.com/piercecounty.sheriff/videos/702694547170966/UzpfSTk2NDI5MDU0ODkxOjEwMTU3NjUxMzk0MzY5ODky/

Bond Update: Just over a year ago, voters in our district approved a School Construction Bond that will build three brand new schools in the coming years. Money from the bond will also be used to renovate and expand five other schools. The first school, Elementary #18, will open its doors in the fall of 2021. https://medium.com/@BethelSD/burning-down-the-house-16914f98b427
