Principal's Weekly Update

On behalf of our team, we wish you all a happy Thanksgiving break and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, December 1st.

Winter MAP Testing & IXL Prep

Once we return, students will be taking the Winter MAP in Reading and Math. Please have your student take some time this break to practice the skills aligned to their Fall MAP scores in IXL (both for Reading and Math). Here's a video of how they can work on their personalized action plans based on their scores to ensure they are demonstrating maximum growth and reviewing concepts.

Two Hazardous Materials Specialists, with the Environmental Health of Solano County visited the AVID class this week to share about their career path and the work they do for our county.

Six wonderful wildcats, led by Ms. Latini, spent their Wednesday evening bagging produce at the food bank. National Junior Honor Society members participate in community service throughout the year. With the holidays coming up, and food insecurity at an all time high, fighting hunger is a noble cause.

Our library staff members are striving to create non-tech activity options for students before school and during lunch. They have created a game/craft cart and would love to add more hands-on items. Check out the library's wishlist below!

Dear Parents,

I am the bracelet club helper and it’s been a huge hit, so beads are going by quickly. Ms. Parker and I would love to get more so this club can stay a huge hit. We would love some donations to help us stay and keep this club going! - Serenity C.

The next bracelet club meeting is on Thursday, December 4th, from 3:30 - 4:00 in Room 5.

PE uniforms are now available for purchase at our school store:

• PE shirt (gray) long sleeve available as well
• PE shorts (black)
• PE sweats (black)

Students can also alternatively use/wear a plain gray shirt/sweatshirt and/or plain black shorts/sweatpants. NO logos permitted.

The PE department will begin requiring that students change into uniforms in January upon our return from winter break.

BGW holds math tutoring sessions every week. See this month's schedule below:

🏀Basketball

Practices continue on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Games begin the week of December 15th. Girls play at 4pm, followed by boys at 5pm.

• Tuesday, December 16th @ home vs. Crystal MS

• Thursday, December 18th @ home vs. Grange MS

Students MUST have their school ID to enter all games - no exceptions. Only students from BGW and opposing team will be allowed entry.

Just in time for winter break and last minute gift purchases. Pre-order your Dave & Buster's Play Cards!

Dave and Buster's Playing Card Fundraiser + Dine and Donate: This will be a two-part event! First, we'll be doing pre-orders December 8th-10th for Dave and Buster's $10 and $20 playing cards (times will be announced soon). Play cards can be used any time. Card distribution will be Monday December 15th after school and Tuesday December 16th before and after school. If you are unable to pick up cards on these dates please email the PTO at bgwilsonpto2.fairfield@gmail.com or text 707.810.5604. Lastly, come hang out for a fun filled night with the Wildcat family, December 16th 7-10pm at Dave and Buster's, order off the menu for an additional 20% back to help the PTO!

• FSUSD District Adopt-A-Family : We are participating in this event as a PTO! Please reach out if you have the means and would like to donate toward our adopted families. You may also adopt a separate district family on your own from HERE!
• Holiday Candy Grams : This collaboration with Leadership has sales planned for December 8-12 during lunch with distribution on Tuesday the 16th. More info to come!

This will be an opportunity for you to get a glimpse of what we are planning and ways you can help. Fundraising opportunities may be available to help with the cost of the dinner dance ticket. Date will be announced after Thanksgiving break.
