GRE VIEWS THE SOLAR ECLIPSE MONDAY GRE VIEWS THE SOLAR ECLIPSE MONDAY

A highlight of the week for many was viewing the solar eclipse Monday. Our whole school community gathered on the front blacktop to witness the event. With their safety glasses in place students could see how the moon blocked the sun. Students also enjoyed learning how this event occurs in their classroom. Primary students made paper models and hats to celebrate.

We appreciated the opportunity to come together as a full community to experience science in action!

GRE Kindness 101 SD 480p

As you are aware, Gold Rush has the first Young Rotarians Club in the world! Each year the Young Rotarians Club completes local and international service projects. Prior projects include decorating bags for a meal delivery service for the elderly, creating health care bags for individuals in Africa and quilting sleep bags for children in need.

This year GRE's Young Rotarians decided to celebrate individuals in our school community. Students focused on five groups of individuals that directly impacted our entire school, namely our school resource officer, the lunch and recess aides, our cafeteria staff and the PTO. Students created kindness videos that highlight the character traits that each group embodies. These videos were modeled off of Steve Hartman's Kindness 101 video highlighting service. Click here to view the video.

The Young Rotarians Club is sharing their videos with students and staff. They also wanted to share them with our parent community. This week we are highlighting GRE's amazing building engineer, Mr. Branson. We hope that you will watch and see how he models hard work each day.

We could not be more proud of our students for recognizing others and spreading kindness!

CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS

We know that creating a positive, collaborative learning environment is essential to all students’ success. Creating balanced classes that meet the needs of all students is a difficult endeavor. This process involves hours of thoughtful dialogue between classroom teachers, administrators and other staff members. The school takes this responsibility seriously and takes each child into consideration.

We value parent input and welcome any insight you wish to share about your child’s strengths, needs and learning style. We will take into consideration all pertinent information that you share on or before Friday, April 12. While we welcome your input, we cannot honor specific teacher requests. Please make sure you communicate your thoughts via this google doc so we can track your input and refer back to it throughout the process.
