Volunteer Spotlight
Parent Bretha Turk
This week, our volunteer of the week is Mrs. Bertha Turk, our Very Important Morning Valet Voluteer. Mrs. Turk has single-handedly recruited and organized the Walteria morning valet drop off. We are so grateful to her for donating her gift of time and commitment to taking an active role in keeping all students safe and feeling welcome. When you see Mrs. Turk out in the morning, be sure to say thank you. I know the teachers, staff, and principal are so greatful for volunteers like Mrs. Turk.
I decided to volunteer because I saw the need and I have my mornings free. I also was inspired by another mom, who used to do valet before.
2. What do you love about volunteering?
What I love about volunteering is greeting the kids in the morning with a smile and seeing the parents wave and say thank you.
3. What is one fun or memorable moment about your volunteer time?
Everyday is fun for me, but I did enjoy when the T-Rex’s where out front wearing their costumes. Kids and parents were taking pictures.
4. What advice would you give to people considering volunteering at Walteria?
My advice would be, get involve and come join us. We need more volunteers!!
Canned Food Drive Update
Mrs. Robison has won the Canned Food Drive with 650 cans! In all we received over 3,000 cans. Way to go Wildcats and a special thank you to 5th grader Kyle Wood! He took the lead by contacting South High School, working with South HS staff, creating posters, coordination helpers, and counting cans. Way to go Kyle. Also special thank you to Walteria School Staff Office Assistant Kathy Bowman and South High School for coordinating this worthwhile endeavor.
