CCA's April Character Trait: Gentleness

The April character trait of the month is gentleness. I asked three students what gentleness means to them, and here are their responses. Kayin from 1st grade said, “It means to be nice to one another, to have self control, and to be thankful.” Emelia from 4th grade said, “It means to me that you can change the world if you’re kind to people.” Raelynn from 2nd grade said, “Gentleness means being gentle and kind to others.” Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. --Jacob

Chapel on April 17 Chapel on April 17

On Thursday, April 17th, a special Easter chapel was presented by Jeff Ferguson, Pastor at Lowry City Baptist Church. He asked for 5 students to hold signs for him; Korvin, Dawson, Grey, Owen and Roman were chosen. Pastor Jeff then talked to us about five different theories non-believers have about Jesus' Resurrection. These were: the Swoon Theory, Hallucination Theory, Wrong Tomb Theory, Stolen Body Theory and Imposter Theory. He then told us what each sign meant.

The Swoon Theory says Jesus passed out and the coolness of the tomb brought Him back to life. However, when Jesus was stabbed blood and water came out, which is evidence that Jesus was in fact dead. The Hallucination Theory says the disciples just imagined that Jesus came back; however, a whole group of people hallucinated the same thing, which doesn't make much sense, so that is probably not what happened. The Wrong Tomb Theory says it was dark and they went to the wrong tomb; however, the Bible says there was an angel at the tomb and 16 soldiers were guarding it. The Stolen Body Theory says the disciples stole the body because they were scared. They defeated all the soldiers and rolled away the stone. The scribes told the soldiers to tell everyone the body was stolen while they were sleeping, but if you fell asleep on duty you were killed. The Imposter Theory says God would never allow Jesus to die on the cross, but the Bible says if Jesus did not die on the cross we would be miserable. Non-believers also say He was a ghost, but Acts and Corinthians record His appearance.

Thank you Pastor Jeff for coming to CCA and for explaining to us how to defend Jesus' Resurrection as a Christian. --Kynlee

This week Kynlee surveyed 70 teachers and staff members to find out if they would rather play soccer or baseball/softball. This week the vote was really close, but baseball/softball won with 37. Soccer came in close behind with 33. The first baseball game was played on June 19, 1845 and the first softball game was played on November 24, 1887.
