Welcome to Week Nineteen! Welcome to Week Nineteen!

Students and Families,

We are entering our last full week of the first semester. We are looking forward to a strong end of the semester and the start of new classes at the end of the month.

Thank you,

The Parkside Staff

Reminder: No School Monday 1/20

There is no school on Monday, January 20.

Semester One Ending

There are two weeks left in semester one. The semester/quarter 2 ends on Friday January 24. This is a good time to check your grades and make sure you continue to monitor them as the end of the quarter gets closer. Report cards will be distributed on Friday January 31.

Most students will have changes to their Unified Arts schedule for the second semester. Students can check Aspen for information on their schedule.

Attendance at Sporting Events

We have three home basketball games this week and wanted to send out a reminder to families and students about expectations for student spectators attending these games.

  1. All student spectators must be Parkside students (once we have student IDs you will need them to enter). Students who do not attend Parkside must be accompanied by a parent for entry (this includes younger and older siblings of Parkside students).
  2. Student spectators will be allowed into the building 5 minutes before the games start. Students must be picked up immediately after the game ends. Students who are not picked up within 15 minutes of a game ending will be restricted from attending future games.

  3. Parkside students, not accompanied by a parent, must sit in the Parkside fan section (bleachers closest to the lobby door).

  4. Students must be in school by 7:45AM and attend the entire school day (unless there is a doctor’s note) to be admitted. Absent students will not be allowed entry into games.

  5. The focus of attending a sporting event is that event and not the lobby or hallway. Students will be sent home if they attempt to wander the building or if they continuously exit the gym. Additionally, students can’t leave the building and then return.

  6. Students exhibiting behavior that does not meet expectations will be removed from the game and restricted from attending future games.

  7. Students may be restricted from attending games for violations of the code of conduct during the school day. Students who owe detention hours will not be admitted.

Weather and Morning Arrival

As the weather shifts and gets colder, please make sure your student is dressed appropriately in layers for the colder mornings when they are walking to school, at their bus stop or on school grounds. Unless it is raining, snowing or below 20 degrees, your child will be outside from when they arrive at school until 7:20. If you need a warm coat for your student please contact our social worker, Jillian Record via email jillianrecord@mansd.org or attend the event detailed below.
