2nd Grade Newsletter
November 3-7
We had such a wonderful and exciting week in 2nd grade!
In Math, we had so much fun exploring 3D shapes! Students have been identifying faces, edges, and vertices while building and investigating real-world examples of these shapes.
In Writing, we’ve been busy revising, editing, and publishing our Expert Writing pieces. We have experts on such a wide variety of topics — from making forts on a rainy day, to martial arts, sports, and more! It’s been such a joy to see students write passionately about things they love and know so much about.
In Social Studies, we learned about important people in our community and how Prosper has honored them by naming schools after individuals who have made a positive impact. We also learned about inspiring historical figures such as Irma Rangel, Thurgood Marshall, and the Navajo Code Talkers.
In Science, students had hands-on fun experimenting with tuning forks and water to explore how sound travels through vibrations. They loved being able to see, feel, and hear sound in action!
We wrapped up Red Ribbon Week with so many fun activities and important lessons. We especially loved “clowning around” with the Fire Clowns today while learning all about fire safety.
What a fantastic week of learning and fun! Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

If you are dropping off your child’s lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.
We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
- Please make sure your child is not bringing any toys to school. Several students are taking their Labubus off their backpacks and playing with them throughout the day or taking them to Specials. These items need to be left at home. Thank you!
- Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week. Please see the Take Home Support pictured here for more guidance on At-Home Phonics activities. This paper is also located in each student's purple folder.
- Your student is now expected to type in their own username and password to log in to their chromebook. Log in to Skyward to find their username and password and help them memorize it at home!
- Please be sure to bring a labeled water bottle and healthy snack daily.
- Please check Take Home folders each week for teacher communication regarding classroom behavior and to empty contents.
UIL
Students who registered to participate in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) A+ Academics Competition will take part in a Campus Meet on November 4 after school. Following the Zone UIL meet, the top six (6) students in each event, in each grade level will advance to the District meet on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
