This Week...
Tiger Families,
Hello, November!
As we turn the calendar to a new month, we are entering a season filled with gratitude.
October brought plenty of excitement, school spirit, and memorable moments, and now November invites us to slow down just enough to appreciate the people, experiences, and little moments that make our school community special.
At McCormick, we talk often about academic growth, responsibility, and resilience. But equally important is helping our Tigers recognize the value of gratitude, kindness, and giving back.
Middle schoolers are at an age when their world can sometimes feel centered around what they need, what they want, or what isn't going their way. November gives us a wonderful opportunity to help them shift their perspective from “What am I getting?” to “What can I give?”
Gratitude in Action
Gratitude is more than saying “thank you.” It's recognizing the good around us and finding ways to pass it along.
At school, that might look like:
· Thanking a teacher, coach, or staff member who makes a difference.
· Helping a classmate without being asked.
· Including someone who may feel left out.
· Showing appreciation for the people who support us behind the scenes.
· Choosing encouragement over criticism when someone is having a difficult day.
Sometimes the smallest gestures leave the biggest impact.
Tiger Challenge: Give Thanks, Give Back
This week, challenge your Tiger to complete one intentional act of kindness or appreciation each day.
Hold a door. Help someone. Offer encouragement. Thank an adult. Include a classmate. Pick up something that isn't yours.
Small actions, repeated across more than 1,300 Tigers, can make an incredible difference in our school community.
This Week
* Monday and Tuesday: Student Holidays
* Wednesday: 8th Grade Attendance Incentive During Advisory
* Thursday: 7th Grade Attendance Incentive During Advisory
* Friday: 6th Grade Attendance Incentive During Advisory
As we begin November, let's remember that the strongest school communities aren't built by what we receive, but by what we contribute.
I am grateful for our students who continue to grow, our staff who pour their hearts into making a difference, and our families who partner with us every day.
New month. Grateful hearts.
With Tiger Pride,
Amanda Richason

Hello, Tiger Families!
On November 10th, our 7th graders will travel to the Performing Arts Center (PAC) for the CTE Showcase. There, students will explore the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs of study offered at Johnson HS. This is a great opportunity for students to explore and ask questions about programs they may be interested in pursuing in high school. This should help students create their 5-year graduation plans. More information on graduation plans will be provided soon.
To learn more about the different programs of study offered in high school, and other classroom topics, visit Hays CISD CTE Course Guide 26-27
The holidays are just around the corner. If you need holiday assistance, Hays County Brown Santa will begin accepting applications on October 15th at 9 am and close on Dec. 7th. All students have been given an ID badge. If your child has lost their ID, they will need to purchase one in the front office for $5. If they need to purchase a lanyard, it will cost an additional $2. Revtrak. Students can use their own lanyard.
Early Checkouts
There will be no early checkouts after 3:00pm. We are not able to pull your child from class and have them waiting in the office for you.
