Broadmoor's Weekly Wildcat News!
November 30, 2025
Dear BES Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We have three very full weeks until the end of the semester. We will have programs, fun activities, and lots of end-of-the-semester assessments and projects!
Please make attendance an priority and work with us to ensure your student does not fall behind if they do need to miss school. We have Wildcat mornings every day starting at 7am and Power Hour every Monday-Thursday until 4pm to assist students with their assignments and projects! We are also happy to meet with you to partner in case you and your child are needing additional support. Please reach out!
As a reminder, the attendance letters are to keep you informed of your child's absences. If needed, I will reach out to meet with you so we can work together to make a plan to improve their attendance.
Check the dates below and dates on your classroom teacher's emails so nothing is missed. It's that time of year!
Have a wonderful week,
Cindy Apple, Principal

BES Holiday Giving
This year for BES Holiday giving, we will be helping two important groups! 12/1-12/5 we will be doing a food drive for Agape Food Pantry in Louisburg. They have requested specific items. Please only send these items - Canned tuna or chicken, canned fruit, spaghettios, peanut butter or jelly. 12/8-12/17 Penny Wars!!! This was a blast last year and we are excited to continue the tradition. Proceeds will be used to purchase items for Children's Mercy 'Happy Kits". BES Student Ambassadors will host a family Happy Kit packing event during the third quarter!

Cold Weather and Recess
Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for outside recess. We try to go out as much as possible, but the wind can be really cold on the playground. Our teachers and I make the decision in regards to if students are dressed appropriately and allowed outside, depending on how it feels outside and some students may have indoor recess if they are not dressed for the cold.

Safety Beyond School
Please talk to your students about walking and riding around town safely. We've had several reports of close calls, and we talk to the students about these topics often. However, if you could also talk to your children and practice safe measures with them that would be amazing.
1. When crossing at 68 Highway and Summerfield OR at 5th and Metcalf - PLEASE push the button but do not enter the road until you are certain the vehicles are going to stop in both directions. Even more, make sure they look at the cars coming and that they are going to stop and are paying attention. Please go out with your children and practice crossing these streets and the routes they take.
2. When riding scooters or bikes during drop-off or pick-up, we have asked all students to get off of their bike/scooter and walk it to the bike racks once they get on our main sidewalk. We have had students fall off the curb into traffic due to bikes/scooters coming up beside them and scaring them. We have also had scooters fall off the curb and into traffic.
We tell the students all the time they have to be the ones paying attention to what the vehicles are doing because unfortunately, the drivers are often distracted.
Thank you for helping us keep our kids safe!
Support For Our Families
Hello USD 416 Families and Friends,
Believe it or not, cold weather and the holiday season are fast approaching. The added expense of this season can be a heavy burden. The USD 416 social worker/counselor team wanted to share with you some free resources for winter coats, Thanksgiving meal baskets and Christmas gifts (Christmas gift program is for Louisburg children birth to 18). Please be mindful of each deadline for requesting assistance. As far away as they seem, the deadlines will be here before you know it.
If your family could benefit from a little extra support to ease the seasonal burden, then please see our newsletter to learn about some wonderful resources!

Attendance and School Calendar
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
