Student Illness

Students are limited to seven (7) excused days with parental notes for the year. Any absences beyond those seven (7), without medical or legal documentation, will be unexcused. (Please note this change from previous years.)

We ask our families to keep sick children at home. If you are unsure or have questions regarding MCS procedures for student illnesses, please contact our school nurse, Pam Myers.

Notice from Maryville City Schools detailing policy changes for parent excuse notes, allowing up to 7 notes per school year, effective 2026-27. Transcribed Text: CHANGES TO PARENT NOTE POLICY Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Maryville City Schools has updated its parent excuse note policy. Here's what you need to know: Students may use up to 7 parent notes each school year (previously 10). Doctor's notes do not count toward the 7-note limit. Please submit medical excuses whenever your child sees a healthcare provider. This update aligns MCS with the practices of most Tennessee school districts while continuing to provide flexibility for families.
