A Message from Principal Anita O'Neill A Message from Principal Anita O'Neill

May 17, 2026

Dear Coyote Community,

Happy Sunday, everyone! I can hardly believe we are entering the final week of school for our seniors. Time has flown, and our June 10 graduation ceremony will be here before we know it.

This is an especially full and joyful week, with celebrations happening nearly every day as we honor the Class of 2026. Seniors will be recognized at Senior Awards Night, MC's Dual Enrollment celebration, and the MCPS Educational Foundation Scholarship presentation. On Friday, our entire school community will come together for Clarksburg Day to celebrate our seniors, and they will wrap up the week with what I know will be a beautiful evening in the Coyote Canyon for Senior Sunset.

Alongside all of the senior celebrations, our testing team will be administering make-up AP and MCAP exams for students who missed their original testing dates. These assessments are important, and we want every student to be set up for success. If you are testing this week, please come well-rested, on time, and with a fully charged Chromebook.

Our PTSA is also hosting a program focused on the college application process. This is an excellent opportunity for our rising seniors and their caregivers, as there are many steps that can be organized and even started over the summer. I encourage families to attend and take advantage of this helpful resource to support strong, timely college applications.

Have a wonderful and productive week!

Warmly,
Ms. O’Neill

myMCPS Classroom (Canvas) Cybersecurity Update –System Operating Safely

myMCPS Classroom (Canvas) is now fully operational, including the restoration of the grade syncing to the MCPS student information systems. This is important because it means there will be no impact on end-of-year grading or report cards.

To support teachers following last week’s nationwide cybersecurity incident impacting Canvas, MCPS has extended the teacher grade submission deadline to Monday, May 18, 2026. Family access to Canvas should now be fully restored.

MCPS technology teams continue to monitor systems closely, and the vendor, Instructure, has confirmed that data has been secured and that systems are safe. We want to sincerely thank our students, staff, families, and especially our MCPS technology staff for their patience, flexibility, and hard work as we navigated this cybersecurity incident together. Should families need support with MCPS technology, visit the Community Tech Support portal page at https://montgomery.service-now.com/csm, and if you have a question, submit an email to communitytechsupport@mcpsmd.org.
