Honor Band
Congratulations to the 11 students who auditioned, earned selection, and performed with the Eastern Colorado Honor Band at Bennett High School. These students were chosen through a competitive audition process and then collaborated with top musicians from 12 other middle schools across Eastern Colorado to prepare and present an outstanding concert. Selection for this ensemble is a significant achievement and reflects dedication, musicianship, and a high level of commitment.
We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work and professionalism. They represented Legacy Academy’s music program with excellence and set a high standard for our entire school community. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

District Spelling Bee Winner!
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, ESD held the district spelling bee at Elizabeth Middle School. This year's bee consisted of ten superb spellers who started off learning a list of 160 new words in the fall where they had to place in the top three in their school's spelling bee to advance to the district bee. These students received a list of another 160 new words in mid-December and had a month to study on their own to prepare themselves for the district bee. After 49 rounds of spelling and almost exhausting the complete list of words, the top winner in this year's district bee is Kolten McCaslin from Legacy Academy. Kolten will now represent ESD in the first round of the state spelling bee being held on February 19th. It consists of an online spelling/vocabulary portion. There are over 250 students from across the state competing in the state spelling bee and only 15 to 20 students will advance to the oral portion of the state spelling bee taking place on March 7, 2026, at the University of Denver. Good luck, Kolten!

Nerf Night
The LAST Nerf Night of the school year will be February 7th from 5:30-8pm. The cost is $15 per person.
Nerf Night is for Legacy families only. Participants must be 7 and up (6-year-olds may play if a parent is in the gym with them). This is an excellent time for families to play together. Parents are invited to play as well. Bring your own blasters to the event (we do not provide blasters). Students may not bring their blasters to school during school hours. Do not bring darts or discs. Protective eye wear and darts are provided. Parents will be required to sign a waiver prior to this event; no exceptions will be made. Come enjoy a fun night with your Legacy friends and family.
Attached please find the Nerf SignUpGenius for parents to sign up to volunteer or donate concession items. We will need help setting up, tearing down, and judges. Any parents that donate food or time may apply it to your volunteer hours. Double your volunteer hours. ($10 in donations = 1 hour of your time. Double it for your donations.
Doors will open at 5:30pm. Players/parents will not be permitted in the building early unless you are helping set up. Parents must come inside and sign the 2025-26 waiver.
To host Legacy family events, we rely on parent volunteers, please sign up to help set up, tear down and monitor our students to assure a safe and fun Nerf Night. It is easy and fun to volunteer. Thank you to the many volunteers, we cannot do it without you.

Our annual middle school school dance is coming soon! School dances are a place to provide a healthy safe environment for our students to socialize and enjoy being together. Non-Legacy students may not attend. This is strictly for Legacy Middle School (6th, 7th and 8th grades). All middle school students are invited. ***This is a staff chaperoned dance. Proceeds will go to our Legacy Theater Program.
Parents will drop-off and pick up students at the gym entrance door (blue doors). Students will not be allowed entrance until 5:15pm. Parents please be prompt in picking up your child after the event at 7pm. Students must be picked up and dropped off by parents/guardians at the designated times.

WATCHDOG dads will be in the hall and on the premises. This is a school planned and organized event hosted by Legacy staff. Therefore, ALL school rules apply. Appropriate behavior and conduct is expected at the dance.

Food: Please see the signup genius if you would like to prepare the food or donate items to the dance. PTCO will reimburse parents for the cost of the meat, just provide the receipt. We would like several parent volunteers to set up, serve the meal and clean up in the cafeteria (5-6pm) However, our volunteers may not attend the dance in the gym, our staff will chaperone and ensure students have a safe enjoyable evening.
