Principal's Message from Mrs. Sierra

Hello Champion families! The school year has gotten off to a great start and we couldn't be more proud of our staff and students. We appreciate all of your support these first few weeks of school. Our students have adjusted to their new routines with much learning and growth already taking place. We see so much hope in our Champions and our staff is ready to support our students every step of the way. Our goal is for every student to have a successful school year. Please make sure your child is coming to school daily. Every grade level matters because each one builds upon the other. Let's work together this year to make a difference for your Champion!

With respect,

Parent/Guardian Partnerships

We value our parent partnerships! 💙
When questions or concerns come up, we kindly ask that you begin the conversation with your child’s teacher first. Teachers know your student best and can often provide quick clarity or solutions.

If additional support is needed, our administrators are always happy to step in after that initial conversation. If further support is needed, appointments will be scheduled to meet with an administrator. Campus administrators spend much of their day in meetings and classrooms serving as instructional leaders in addition to ensuring student safety. Our goal is to give you our full attention, prepare for the conversation, and work together on the best solution for your child.

This process helps us work together more effectively and keeps communication strong between home and school. Thank you for helping us build a team approach to your child’s success! 🌟

PTA and Open House

We are excited to host our first PTA meeting of the school year folllowed by our Open House. Our PTA meeting will first take place in the cafeteria from 5:30-6:00 p.m. Families will then be able to visit classrooms from 6:00-7:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to join us!

Dress Code Reminders

We wanted to remind parents/guardians of some dress code items that we have been addressing while in school these first few weeks:

*Cowboy boots and open toed sandals/flip flops/Crocs may not be worn to school. Closed toe shoes such as tennis shoes are highly recommended. This will help to avoid any student injuries throughout the day. There are exceptions on dress up days, but students will still need to wear closed toe shoes for PE. Sometimes this means bringing a change of shoes to school on dress up days.

*Shorts worn to school should not be shorter than 3 inches above the knee. We have noticed many students wearing workout type shorts to school that are much shorter than 3 inches above the knee.

Please click on this link for a copy of our student dress code. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1q_pwggkfpXyLEP4zk9AEZtXre5Wa9GR04XtunP1aQl4/edit?usp=sharing

Accelerated Reader Program

Our Champions will be working on their personal reading goals this school year and the Accelerated Reader program is one way to guide a student as to which level they are reading on in school. This reading level will tell them which level of books to pick out at our library. The level is called the zone of promixal development or ZPD.

At this point in the school year, students in Grades 1-5 already have their "ZPD" and are now able to check out books from our library. Each student has an AR folder where they track each book they read. The goal is to read the book at least two times and take a quiz on the computer with a passing grade of an 80%. Your student knows how many points he/she should be getting each week and by the end of the six weeks. We enourage you to discuss with your child the importance of reaching their weekly and six weeks reading goal. Teachers are required to monitor their students AR progress in class. Students are provided the opportunity to read for at least 20 minutes each day in their classrooms. We strongly encourage that our students continue to read at home as well. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you need more information on your child's AR progress in school. The more you read...the more you know!

CCISD Student Technology

Student Devices

The vision of Corpus Christi ISD is to be a world class school system where every student is a learner, every learner is a graduate, and every graduate is a success.

With this vision in mind, CCISD is proud to continue the successful initiative of the1:1 student device program for grades K-12. This initiative equips students with essential technology tools to access, create, share, and collaborate as responsible digital citizens. It underscores our dedication to providing all students with future ready skills and tools through effective instructional practices, preparing them to excel as productive digital citizens.

Chromebook Access for the 2025–2026 School Year

In the 2025–2026 school year, all K–12 students will have daily access to a Chromebook to support their learning.

  • Grades K–2: Each classroom will be equipped with enough Chromebooks to match student enrollment, ensuring every student has access to a device during the school day.

  • Grades 3–5: Each student will be individually assigned a Chromebook for use during school hours.

  • Grades 6–12: Students will be issued a Chromebook for use both at school and at home. These students are expected to bring their assigned device to school each day to support instruction.

Chromebooks assigned to individual students will remain with them as they progress through grade levels and transition between schools within the district. A replenishment cycle is being established to ensure all students have access to reliable, up-to-date devices through to graduation.

Capturing Kids Hearts September Trait: Empathy

What is Empathy?

Empathy is the ability to be aware of, understand, and be sensitive to another person’s feelings. Instead of focusing on how these feelings impact ourselves, empathy motivates us to focus on others and respond with care and compassion.
