Testing Next Week
Fall Testing is Upon Us!
Fall Testing Dates
Math iReady Assessment: Tuesday September 1 and Wednesday September 2 during Math classes
STAR English Reading Assessment: Thursday September 3 and Friday September 4 during ELA classes
STAR Spanish Assessment: Friday September 4 during SLA or ELA class
Please note that ETHS does use 8th grade Fall iReady and STAR scores for HS class placement. More information on that can be found here.
Please help your child to be successful by:
- Letting them know that the only expectation is that they try- it's not about getting all of the answers correct
- Making sure that your child gets a good night sleep the night before- 8 hours minimum
- Ensuring that your child gets a healthy breakfast. Our breakfast starts at 7:30
- Encouraging and ensuring daily, on time attendance
- Making sure that your scholar's iPad is charged and in good working condition (6th grade iPads are being distributed)

Important Lunch Accounts Information
We want to share an important update regarding cafeteria purchases to help keep you informed about your child’s lunch account balance.
Key Cafeteria Guidelines:
Regular Meals Always Available: Every student can receive a full, regular daily lunch, regardless of their account balance. No child will be turned away from receiving a standard meal.
A La Carte Restrictions: Students with a negative lunch balance will not be permitted to purchase extra a la carte items (such as cookies, chips, or canned drinks). Students may interpret this as "not being able to get something to eat." Please assure your child that even with a balance they are not denied the school lunch- they cannot, however, purchase a la carte foods.
Payment & Account Tracking: You can check your child's balance or add funds anytime at MySchoolBucks.com.
As noted by the district: "A la carte items may be purchased starting in October, as long as the student’s lunch account does not have a current negative balance."
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping lunch accounts current! Please reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with your account. More information can be found here.
Locks Have Arrived
Good news! Locks arrived earlier than anticipated so we were able to begin locker distribution and will conclude with distribution tomorrow. We are also in the process of distributing iPADs. All cells, smart watches, headphones/earbuds, should be in their backpack, purse, fanny pack or tote bag when entering the building and then stored in their locker directly thereafter.
Schedules
As we are in day 3 of the start of the school year, we want to readdress a few common questions regarding student schedules that come up.
Schedule Change Policy
Schedule adjustments are made exclusively for IEP or 504 accommodation requirements. We are unable to honor requests for schedule changes based on teacher preference or class placement with friends. Middle school is a wonderful season of growth, and stepping into new classrooms offers students the perfect opportunity to build confidence, connect with new peers, and create positive new friendships.
Ongoing Class Balancing
Due to a recent influx of completed registrations, our team is currently balancing class sizes for the benefit of our learners. In the very rare instance that your child's schedule needs to be adjusted to accommodate class size, we will contact you directly.
Thank you for your partnership, understanding, and support as we set all of our students up for a successful school year!
