Guidance Updates
Alumni Series
The AHS Guidance Department and the Future Focus Club are sponsoring a series that brings AHS alumni back to share their college experiences with us. Space is limited in these sessions. Priority will be given to seniors who are applying to these colleges. Our first visit is on November 25 with a West Point student. Registration can be found here: West Point
Electric Boat - Update
Electric Boat will be visiting AHS campus for an information session on December 17 from 9a-10a. Interested AVA juniors and seniors can register here: Electric Boat Information Session. An excellent, paid summer internship opportunity for juniors will be discussed.
ASVAB Test
Reminder: the ASVAB test is a necessary exam for entrance to any US military faction. Two free ASVAB tests are administered on the AHS campus every year, and the first one is coming up very soon on Friday, December 5. Please register HERE as soon as possible if interested.
Horatio Alger Scholarships - for Juniors and Seniors
The Horatio Alger Association each year grants hundreds of scholarships to high school juniors and seniors. Most scholarship applications will open December 1st, so we strongly recommend AVA juniors, seniors, and families visit their website HERE and browse any scholarships you think you/your child may qualify for. General qualifications for Horatio Alger scholarships include 1) GPA 2.0 and above, 2) demonstrated financial need, 3) perseverance in overcoming adversity, and 4) involvement in school activities and community service.
As always, please feel free to email me (nng@attleboroschools.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a safe, warm weekend!
