This is a special opportunity to deepen your understanding of Islam, explore the meaning of Ramadan, and learn about everyday life in the Middle Eastβ€”directly from a respected religious leader and teacher. He's also invited families from the Asheville Islamic Center to join us!

All are warmly invited! Please spread the word and bring friends to join us at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, February 8. You won’t want to miss this!

Dear UU Family,

What a challenge these last few weeks have been! Between the snow and the ice and the ICE and the snow both locally and nationally, uncertainty, fear, anger, and sadness have become emotional norms for us.

I hope those aren’t the only feelings you’re experiencing right now though. I hope you’re also feeling pride … pride and determination!

I’m especially proud to be a Unitarian Universalist right now.

In a time when so many are facing exclusion and hostility, our UU faith continues to stand firmly on the side of love, justice, and inclusion and not just in words alone. Just look at the photos of the protests in Minneapolis. UUs are everywhere.. including our own Rev. George and music ministry director, Janey! Look for the bright yellow UU Side with Love hearts on signs, stoles, and winter hats, and you’ll spot the Unitarian Universalists living our values!

It’s inspiring to see UUs on the right side of history - standing up for justice whether it’s in front of the Minneapolis airport, or at IAM and St. James here in town. Across the country and here at home, UUs are showing up in bold and inspiring ways.

I’m so grateful to be part of a community that habitually models active social justice and UU values for my kids and to see and participate in!

Hope you can join us tomorrow! We have special guests, a Sheikh from Jordan, and families from the Asheville Islamic Center coming to guide lessons about Islam, Ramadan, and life in the Middle East. Thanks for coming out this Sunday morning at 10:30 and giving our guests a warm welcome and the new members and friends of our congregation some love.

As always, you are what make Sunday mornings at UU so special. At UUFH, you are loved, your children are cherished, and our faith is love in action!

Contributions Needed for Minister's Discretionary Fund

At UUFH, the minister's discretionary fund provides help for those who are temporarily struggling financially. It can help with paying an overdue bill, contributing toward rent to prevent eviction, or other emergency expenses. We are called to care for one another.

Our Hurricane Helene relief funding is now depleted, yet the needs of our community and our own members remain as high as ever.

Would you please consider an earmarked contribution to this fund as soon as possible? For checks, please add "Discretionary fund" on the memo line. Thank you for your generosity in support of our members and friends who need a helping hand.
