A Note from the Principal: My Purpose and Passion
Dear Booker Families,
We visited many families in the community this weekend during our Annual Success Walk. It was wonderful to connect with you personally and to see the dedication you show every day. We want you to know that we recognize how hard you are working, and we are here to support your child’s academic success. We want to reiterate our partnership and the importance of attending school every single day. We are in this together!
We were also busy holding our first Saturday School tutorial session. While we were excited to begin this important support for our scholars, attendance was low. We know that when students show up consistently, they grow—and we need your partnership to make sure our students take full advantage of these opportunities.
Please look out for invitations to Saturday School and accept the challenge to help improve student outcomes. Together, we can build stronger academic foundations and move every scholar toward success.
In addition, we are excited to begin our after-school tutorials this week:
-
3rd–5th Grade Students: Tutorials begin Tuesday, [insert date].
-
Primary Levels (K–2): Tutorials will begin in October and will be held on Wednesdays only.
Please be sure to check your messages and your child’s backpack regularly for invitations, reminders, and details.
By working side by side—parents, teachers, and students—we can ensure that every scholar receives the support needed to reach their goals. Thank you for committing to this important work with us!
With gratitude,
Keisha Womack
Principal

FRIENDLY REMINDERS FOR PARENTS!
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Parents, we want to remind you that all birthday celebrations are only 15 minutes long. To avoid long interruptions of instructional minutes, we must limit our celebrations, especially since we have a class size with sometimes 24 students. So, to help us out - we will only be accepting cupcakes and juices for birthday celebrations. No pizzas allowed. All cupcakes must be in sealed container with a label (with label) and juices must be boxed juices only. We would love to have additional treats such as pizza, but sadly we cannot afford to lose the instructional time. Please drop all birthday cupcakes off before noon or send them with your child (if they are a car rider). We want to ensure that teachers are aware of any birhtday goodies to plan their instruction around the celebrations.
We are down to less tan 40 families needing to complete the Annual Updates! We will continue the calls to help get to 100%. We may also drop by to help you out this weekend! We want to ensure that all families are complying with district and state mandates. Remember, determining a campus' socioeconomic status is a part of our accountability rating system. So, this is extremely important for us to be at 100% completion!
IMMUNIZATIONS for the 2025-2026 deadline approaching: All immunizations must be updated by September 15, 2025. It is imperative that you provide a copy of any updated immunizations each year. Some of you have gotten emails from our lead nurse, Nurse Huon and we need you to please go and get the updated immunizations! We need 100% compliance with immunizations as well.
DAILY ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Come each day and arrive before 8 am! – Give yourself extra time to get through the car rider line! We have about 30-40 students absent a day! Only keep students home if they have a fever or a doctor's note excusing them! 90% attendance is a state mandate! School starts promptly at 8:05 am each day! Let's see if we can reach 100% of our scholars being on time this week!
Front Office Visits - Parents needing to visit the front office in the mornings and afternoons - Please enter the building through the main entrance for assistance; preferably without your child in the mornings. Children who are car riders should be dropped off first in the car rider line, then parents we ask that you park in the front visitor parking spots or the curb that is NOT THE FIRE LANE. Proceed to the entrance with your valid ID or passport and ring the doorbell. You will be required to go through the metal detectors before proceeding to the window for assistance.
Visitor Mandate: Valid ID or passport required for all visitors! You must have a valid ID to be buzzed in! Be Ready to show your ID for all transactions and requests, upon entering the building.
Show respect for all stakeholders; our school, staff, and students! Be kind and respectful in your interactions with our staff members, teachers, and administrators. We want to ensure a positive environment for all and ensure the safety and security for all stakeholders. Please refrain from using profanity, disrespectful or threatening language/behaviors when interacting with our staff. Please be mindful that all clothing must be appropriate and free from inappropriate language/designs or revealing in nature.
Keep your contact information updated! If order for you to stay updated with the latest and most accurate school related information, please make sure you update your email address and phone number if you change them. Also, we need every parent to please sign up for DOJO to receive messages from your classroom teacher!
Let's keep up the great partnership and ensure we hold the highest standards for each other and our scholars! Together, we can achieve GREAT things!

VISITOR PROCEDURES
RING THE DOORBELL!
Parents or guardians will be required to stand in front of an exterior camera and present valid identification, such as a driver’s license, before they are granted access to the building. This camera is positioned outside, near the main entrance, and no one will be permitted inside until their identity has been verified by the front office staff. To further enhance security, adults are asked to close the door immediately upon entering and ensure no one follows them in and must proceed through the metal detectors. Tardiness not only impacts learning but can also interfere with the seamless implementation of these protocols.
Let’s work together to ensure everyone's safety and that every student is present, on time, and ready to learn each day!
School Hours: 8:05 am - 3:25 pm
SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY!
SMART TAG IS MANDATORY!

TAKE THE PREK SURVEY
Good Reason Houston, a partner with Spring ISD, is launching a citywide Pre-K Family Survey to better understand what families want and need when it comes to early learning. The survey is designed to capture family perspectives on access, awareness, and experience with Pre-K.
Thank you in advance for amplifying this important effort. Together, we can ensure more Houston families are aware of and connected to high-quality Pre-K opportunities. Take the survey HERE: bit.ly/prekhouston_digital
