Hello Centerview families!
Each morning, following the 9:20 a.m. bell, students convene in their homebased learning space for a short, all school morning announcement. Then, they begin their Morning Meetings.
The purpose of each day’s Morning Meeting is to build a strong sense of community, merge social and emotional learning with academics, and set a positive, engaging tone for the school day. A typical 20-25 minute gathering consists of four components:
- A greeting to make every student feel seen, welcomed, and acknowledged by name.
- A sharing time to build trust, empathy, and active listening skills as students talk about their lives.
- A group activity to foster teamwork, collective joy, and physical and mental alignment through active participation.
- A morning message to deliver important daily information while reinforcing reading, writing, or academic concepts.
Our morning meetings are a powerful for building relationships, creating a sense of belonging, and helping students positively transition into the rest of the day. And, they are FUN!
A week into school, so much is falling into place, including bus routes and timing. That said, I highly recommend you download the MyStop app if your child rides the bus. As we start the year, our elementary buses tend to run a little behind schedule. The MyStop app will help you keep track of where your child’s bus is and ease any tension that may come if the bus is not at your stop at the expected time. Learn more about MyStop.
Once again, thank you for your partnership! With more than 600 K-4 students and many more early childhood students, we’ve got a lot to feel good about as we work through week two. I know it’s not perfect, however, through our communication and ability to partner we can create the conditions for each student to feel valued, inspired, and have a sense of belonging.
We got this!
Take care,
Mike

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work together to keep our school community safe.
If you prefer your child not participate, please reach out to the main office to notify us.

Grades K-4 Assessments
During the first months of school, all students participate in universal screening assessments. These assessments measure things like reading (e.g., DIBELS, Capti), math (e.g., MAP), and social, emotional, and behavioral development (e.g., SAEBRS). They provide valuable information to teachers to better understand each student's strengths and learning needs. Find more information on our website about Assessments.

Enjoying Lunch Together
The start of a new school year has brought lots of excitement, new friendships, and opportunities to connect! During lunchtime, students are enjoying time with their peers, sharing stories, laughing, and getting to know one another. It’s wonderful to see our students building friendships and creating a welcoming sense of community around the lunch table. Special thanks to our wonderful cafeteria staff, who greet students with a smile and help make lunchtime a positive experience for everyone. These simple moments of connection are such a special part of the school day!

Keeping Our Schools Safe, Together
Every family wants their child’s school to be a safe, welcoming place to learn. Keeping students and staff safe is a shared responsibility across Spring Lake Park Schools — one that includes prevention, preparation, strong partnerships and knowing how to respond if something unexpected happens.
At the beginning of a new school year, we want to share how we work every day to keep our schools safe. Our students, staff and families are a part of that effort.
Our approach to safety and security has many layers. We work to prevent problems, protect our schools, practice how we will respond and learn from what happens so we can continue to improve. Read about our approach to safety and security.
