ALTA SIERRA BRUIN'S DEN
Day 1 Recap & Important Reminders
Principal's Message
Dear ASI Parents and Guardians,
We had a wonderful first day of school at Alta Sierra Intermediate!
This morning, our teachers, support staff, administrators, and leadership students worked together to welcome students and help them find their classrooms. The energy on campus was positive and exciting, and we are so proud of how our students started the year.
Please take a moment to review the reminders below, which are designed to help all students have a safe and positive experience on campus. I apologize for the repetition, but with half of our student population and many new families, it is important to send these reminders regularly until following them becomes second nature.
This Week’s Lessons:
-
AB: Introduction to the Positivity Project
-
Electives: Exploring personality traits and learning how to work effectively with different personalities
-
Math: Building a Growth Mindset
-
Science: Lab safety procedures and a Digital Citizenship lesson
-
PE: Campus tours today; tomorrow students will attend an assembly on School Safety and Expectations
-
PE clothes and locks will be sold Wednesday and Thursday
-
Students begin dressing out next Monday
Thank you for your partnership in making the start of the school year safe, positive, and successful for all students. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out by email.
Warm regards,
Jennifer Carter
Principal, Alta Sierra Intermediate
DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Thank you for helping us start the school year strong!
While many students were in dress code today, some were not. Students out of dress code received a documented warning and phone call home. All situations were handled discreetly, and students were reminded they were not in trouble, but being supported in following expectations.
Areas most often out of dress code:
-
Shorts: 5-inch inseam and straight hem (many athletic shorts, e.g., Lululemon, Under Armor are not allowed except in PE)
-
Skirts: No shorter than 5 inches above the top of the kneecap or mid-thigh (check front and back)
-
Tops: No bare midriffs
-
Jeans: Minor fraying/small holes allowed, but skin cannot show through
-
Logos/Graphics: No professional sports teams, “Bulldog,” or “Bulldogs”
-
Hair Color: Must be a natural color
We know dress code can sometimes feel tricky, especially with current styles, and we appreciate you taking a moment to review expectations with your student. Your support at home makes a huge difference in keeping our focus on learning.
