KEEPING OUR KIDS SAFE & PROCEDURE INFORMATION
SAFETY - We believe that your child's safety is the most important part of our day next to teaching. We are devoted to providing a safe and secure school learning environment for all our students and families. We carefully review our safety plan, protocols, and procedures for our school throughout the year along with using our new SchoolDog platform to conduct safety walks. Monthly drills occur for students and staff which allows us to put or plan into practice and collect feedback from our teachers and safety team after each drill. The county and our school SRO closely monitors our school safety plan and keeps our school updated monthy with any safety information/procedures that we are required to follow or improve upon.
VISITORS - All visitors must ring the front doorbell, show ID & report to the main office. DO NOT hold the door open for other visitors.
ARRIVAL - Boynton opens at 7:00 AM for students riding our school buses. Students that travel by car or are walkers can arrive between 7:00 and 7:50. All students traveling by car must be dropped at our Car Rider line. *Please DO NOT drop students off in the front of the school at our crosswalks. This is for safety reasons.
Parents may park their car across the street and walk their child/children to class until Tuesday, August 12th. Starting on Wednesday, August 13th parents will need to drop their child/children off at the car rider line or walk them to the front door of the school. There will be staff members on duty to ensure that your child makes it safely to class. Students arriving before 7:30 will report to the cafeteria (if eating breakfast) or their designated grade level hallway. Announcements start at 7:40 AM and Instruction begins promptly at 7:50 AM. Any students arriving after 7:50 AM will be marked tardy starting on Wednesday, August 13th.
DISMISSAL - We will begin dismissal promptly for all students at 2:30 PM. Any parent of a student at any grade level may get in our car rider line at any time from 2:00 PM and on. DO NOT ENTER the line though until 2:00 PM and DO NOT PARK across the street early and wait to get in the line. Our goal is to prevent parents from having to use the parking lot across the street now that we have our extended car rider line. This is for safety reasons. Parents may use any lane that they prefer, but need to stop at the stop sign near our new building. Please stay behind the stop sign until 2:30. At 2:30 parents may move forward towards our old 4th grade hallway. Our car rider line ends at 3:00 PM. If you arrive after 3:00 PM, please report to the front office to pick up your child.
EARLY DISMISSAL - Please report to the front office when checking out your child. If your child has a specific appointment and has a note the early dismissal will be excused. If you are picking up early but do not have a specific appointment, the early dismissal will be marked as unexcused. There are NO EARLY CHECK OUTS AFTER 2:00 PM. Parents will need to pick up their child in our car rider line at our regular dismissal time at 2:30.
INSTRUCTION - It is imperative that your child arrives to school on time each day. We have 6 hours and 40 minutes to make a positive impact on your child and every minute counts. Boynton has a dedicated staff that is focused on following our mission of meeting each child's individual needs and helping them reach their full potential. Please support our efforts by having your child arrive on time and every day.
QUESTIONS FOR THE TEACHER - If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, our faculty and staff would love to assist you. Please contact your child's teacher or the office by phone, remind text, or email.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
With the start of any school year, there is always a lot of sickness that spreads. With that being said, I just want to give all of you a few guidelines to follow if your child is sick. Please keep them home if they have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
If your child should need to take medication at school, please contact me. Prescribed medication must have a prescription label on it, and be within date. Medication forms must be completed in order for your child to receive medication at school. Please never send medication in with your child, or in your child's backpack for safety reasons.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 706-866-1521.

PBIS NEWS
We are excited to share with you about a program our school uses to create a safe and positive learning environment for all students called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
What is PBIS?
PBIS is a proactive approach to discipline that focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors, rather than just reacting to negative ones. It’s a framework that helps us create a school-wide culture of respect, responsibility, and success.
Key components of PBIS at our school:
Clearly defined expectations: We have established clear expectations for student behavior in all areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, restrooms, bus/car rider areas, and on the playground. These expectations are be Safe, be a Team player, be Respectful, and be Responsible.
Teaching these expectations: We explicitly teach these expectations to students, just like we teach academic subjects. We use various methods, such as modeling, role-playing, and discussions.
Positive reinforcement: We recognize and reward students who demonstrate positive behaviors. This could include verbal praise, special privileges, or other incentives.
Consistent consequences: We have a clear and consistent system of consequences for when students do not meet behavioral expectations. These consequences are designed to be corrective and help students learn from their mistakes.
Data-driven decision making: We collect and analyze data on student behavior to monitor the effectiveness of our PBIS program and make adjustments as needed.
What does this mean for your child?
Your child will be in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Your child will know what is expected of them and how to behave appropriately.
Your child will be recognized and rewarded for positive behavior.
If your child struggles with behavior, we will work with them to provide support and guidance.
We believe that PBIS is essential for creating a positive school climate where all students can thrive. We are committed to working in partnership with you to support your child’s success.
If you have any questions about our PBIS program, please feel free to contact us.
BOYNTON BISTRO
Welcome back to another exciting school year! The cafeteria staff are thrilled to have your children back in our school. We are committed to providing nutritious and delicious meals that fuel their bodies and minds for a successful day of learning. We offer a variety of options to cater to different tastes and dietary needs, including fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins. We adhere to all nutritional guidelines and maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. We look forward to serving your children and contributing to their overall well-being. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
This year we will follow the same procedures for paying for your student's lunch accounts. You can send cash, check, or set up an online account at ezschoolpay.com and pay there. Checks must be written in black or blue ink. A phone number is also needed on your check.
If you need assistance in paying for your student's lunch, you can fill out a free/reduced application online at LunchApplication.com.
BOYNTON BEYOND
We are excited about this school year! We have many returning staff members and a few new staff members have joined our crew. We are so thankful for the staff that work this program. Thank you for sharing your children with us, and we look forward to getting to know them.
Please remind your student about the code of conduct and behavior expectations of Boynton Beyond. While we want the students to have fun and enjoy after care, we do have a behavior policy in place to keep our students safe. Check in time is especially difficult. We ask that students use a low talking voice and remain seated during check in so the staff can hear and make sure everyone is accounted for. We must know who we have staying each day for safety reasons. We would appreciate the help of our parents reminding students of this rule and why it is important. Thanks for working together with us as a team to achieve the best quality care for our students.
Billing will remain the same as last year. We will send an invoice home on Thursday evening. Any student with an unpaid invoice on Monday morning will not be permitted to stay in after care. You will need to make alternate arrangements for pick up. You can send a check or cash in with your student in the morning. NO PAYMENTS can be accepted at the counter during pickup. We are not allowed to hold money in the building overnight. You can pay anytime online at https://catoosacountyga.schoolwindow.com/payer_login.html
We look forward to a great year!
