Dear Doyon Families,
Happy Friday! It has been a busy, fun-filled week at school!
Our library has been abuzz all week! On Monday, students enjoyed a visit from author and illustrator Juana Martinez-Neal. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the Book Shop of Beverly Farms brought books in for students to purchase at the book fair. We are grateful to FRIES for the support in bringing in Ms. Martinez-Neal, to the Book Shop of Beverly Farms for supporting literacy in our school, and to our families for participating in the book fair. Thank you to Ms. Hohenstein for organizing these two enriching opportunities for our students!
On Tuesday, second grade classrooms welcomed an indigenous educator from the Plimoth Patuxet Museum as an experiential learning extension to their recent studies in Wit & Wisdom. Students were engaged and intrigued as they learned about the lives of early native people and explored items like animal pelts and tools.
On Friday, we had a whole school C.A.R.E.S. assembly. During this gathering, students played were treated to skits created and acted out by several Doyon staff members and played "Name That C.A.R.E.S." as they discussed which C.A.R.E.S. skill or skills were being modeled. Many classrooms also participated in Valentine's Day activities. And would you believe that is was also the 100th day of school for Doyon students in grades 1-5?
We hope the week ahead brings your family time for fun and connection! We look forward to seeing everyone back on February 23rd!
As always, we are here for you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Warmly,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen & Mrs. Benincasa

Doyon CARES
As we head into February break, we encourage our students to continue practicing C.A.R.E.S. wherever they are! Whether spending time with family, playing with friends, or helping at home, these skills make a big difference. We can’t wait to hear how our students showed C.A.R.E.S. while away from school!
Library News!
The library will be open to students on Friday mornings from 8:00-8:40! Students can come to the library before school to read, draw, play with Legos, code, or work on a STEAM project. If your child would like to attend, please sign up below. Space is limited to 12 students per week.
Reach out to Teresa Hohenstein at thohenstein@ipsk12.net with any questions.
School Safety
Curious about school safety procedures? Take a peek at the documents displayed below. These documents are shared with students at the start of the school year by Detective Joe Perna, our School Resource Officer. The documents may serve as a guide to support families in discussing school safety. As always, please be in touch with questions around school safety at the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School.

Nurse's Notes
Hello Doyon Families!
It is cold- brrrrr! Students should dress in layers for the school day. Also, please send children to school with appropriate clothing to play outside as we try and get fresh air whenever possible! We do follow the Child Weather Watch chart which takes into account temperature and wind-chill to determine whether or not outdoor play is safe. That being said---ALL students should be wearing a coat outside at recess and please put the shorts away until spring. Please also send in cold weather gear including hats, mittens, snow pants and boots when needed. In addition, it is always a good idea to have your child have an extra pair of clothes-just in case!
I am always thankful for donations of snow pants and boots for the collection outside my door for kiddos that forget their gear. So if your child has outgrown anything, please feel free to drop it to me! I appreciate it !
