A Message From Dr. Cannon
Happy Friday!
It was a short but another great week at Bogan! Our teachers spent Tuesday learning and collaborating together with the other elementary schools in the district. Students were also very excited to have outdoor recess this week after last week's extremely warm temperatures.
We've noticed an increase of students bringing toys, trading cards, and other personal items to school and on the bus. Please remind your child to leave toys and other personal items at home. Toys can be distracting and may be lost or become a source of conflict during the school day. There have also been reports of squishy (dumpling) toys bursting on the bus, which can be very difficult to clean up. Thank you for helping us keep our focus on learning!
Reminder: We do NOT have school on Friday, September 18th due to teacher meetings.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kirsten Cannon, Principal

September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Student attendance is crucial to your student's success here at school.
The state of Ohio defines chronic absenteeism as a student being absent for 10% of the year for both unexcused AND excused. In addition, the state looks at hours that a student has missed school- not just days. This mean that tardies in the morning and early dismissals in the afternoon contribute to chronic absenteeism.
If your family has a fun trip planned, we absolutely encourage you to go and make those memories!! Please just be mindful of other days that your student is absent.
We will send monthly letters home if your child has reached 10% or more absences. This is a way for us to proactively share information with you about your child's attendance.
Please know that we are here to help!! Do not hesitate reach out if you have any questions or need assistance!

Hello parents and guardians!
It is crazy to think that we are already halfway through September! Somehow it feels like time is flying already. I’m definitely ready for some cooler weather and fall leaves!
Students have been busy working on their MAP assessments and we are slowly getting our classroom Second Step lessons going. It’s been so fun to connect with the students and hear about their summers and see their excitement at being back at school with their friends and teachers.
We have our Bogan Brave tickets up and running, which students can earn for following our PAX expectations around the building. I love seeing the students’ excitement when they bring their tickets to the office and hearing about why they earned it!
If you are interested in your student receiving group or individual support this year, please complete THIS survey and I will be in touch with you regarding permissions forms and any other information needed. I am always here to support your child in any way to help set them up for success. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
PAX
The PAX Good Behavior Game is a research-based classroom strategy that helps children make positive choices, and collaborate with others. It supports a calmer, more focused learning environment by promoting kindness, teamwork, and respectful behavior.
