Get Out the Brooms: Volleyball Teams Sweep Thomas Jefferson and Skyline!

The girls volleyball teams played 2 matches last week and came away with wins at all levels! On Tuesday, the Coyotes faced Thomas Jefferson and a challenging gym with an unusually low ceiling, which required some quick adjustments by libero Maya Singh (11). The first set was close, 25-23, before the Yotes pulled away to win the next 2 sets 25-13 and 25-20. Monarch was propelled to victory by excellent blocking from Shayla Martinez (11) as well as outstanding blocking and hitting by Ava Maliawco (12). The game-winning kill in the 3rd set was scored by Mia Reilly (10).

On Thursday, the Coyotes returned home and faced Skyline in their first League match of the season. Monarch dominated all 3 sets, with Kate Shima (11) leading off the first set with 11 consecutive service points. Anya Prater (12) and Ava Maliawco (12) connected with setters Eva Becht (12) and Petra Rohlinger (11) to lead the scoring for the Yotes, improving the Varsity team’s record to 5-1.

This week, Monarch continues its quest for League wins, facing Holy Family at home on Tuesday (C/D: 4:30, JV: 5:20, Varsity: 6:30) and traveling to Erie on Thursday. Come out and support the teams!

It’s not too late to join the fun! Girls rugby is open to all, no experience required. Come be part of the action and practice with us at Williams Field in Superior on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30–7:00 PM. Our next tournament is Saturday, September 27th in Fort Collins.

Varsity Soccer Stays Unbeaten, Big Week Ahead

Varsity
The Coyotes hit the “plains” Thursday and took care of business against Prairie View. Zach G. opened the scoring off a perfect feed from Ben F., and after Prairie View equalized, Logan S. set up Finn S. for a brilliant header to secure the 2–1 win. Varsity moves to 3-0-1 with a big week of three games ahead!

JV
Hot streak alert! JV stays undefeated at 4-0-0 with another strong win over Prairie View. Mark opened the scoring, Jake (called up from C team!) added another, and Josh sealed it with the final goal. Momentum is on their side heading in to this week!

C Team
No game this week, but plenty of work on the training ground. The team is gearing up for a doubleheader week against Boulder and Silver Creek. Huge shoutout to captain Jake S., who stepped up to JV and scored in their Prairie View win!

Let’s go, Monarch Nation—black and gold are rolling!
