KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP! APRIL 10th 3:30-4:30
RISE UP! CHAMPS FOR MARCH!
Congrats to the students below for being awarded the RISE UP CHAIN for MARCH for their respective grade levels and special areas!
MARCH RISE UP! RALLY FUN!
QC STORM HOCKEY GAME! UPDATE
Unfortunately, we were not able to find a workable solution for the Hockey Game where we could attend a game as a school. As a solution that still honors those who met the attendance and behavior goal, each student will be given a ticket voucher for a game next year. These ticket vouchers will be given to students once they become available to us. It was unfortunate that we were not able to make the trip as a school, however, we will look to utilize a similiar plan next year, one that does not hinge on some bad weather! For those wondering about this year, we were trying to get a special Jefferson only viewing of the CHS Spring Drama performance, however, their show date was pushed into June due to a delay in construction. We will have the the CHS Show Choir come for a performance for all students on April 3rd. Thank you for your continued support!
"GOOD LUCK" with a Duck for Testing Season at Jefferson!
We are running the "Wish Good Luck with a Rubber Duck" fundraiser through the Jefferson PTA! We area always looking for different ways to motivate students, and one of the best ways is to get a message of, "Good Luck!" from their own caregivers! Testing season is upon us! If you want to get a Rubber Duck for your student, but also give them a motivational message before they embark on the most important testing season to date, click this link for a sheet to download and print, and send that sheet with a $1 with your student, and we will make sure they get a duck with your motivational message!
ISASP TESTING: HULK SMASH THE TEST!
Dear Jefferson Elementary Caregivers,
We are excited to share that our students in grades 3–5 are preparing for the upcoming Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP)! These assessments, developed by Iowa Testing Programs at the University of Iowa, are aligned with the Iowa Core standards and provide a clear, accurate picture of student learning, growth, and readiness. Our students have been working hard all year, practicing test questions and building their skills, and now we’re asking for your support to help them do their very best.
This year, we have important goals:
• 3rd Grade is aiming for proficiency in Reading, Writing, and Math.
• 4th and 5th Grades are working toward at least 23 points of growth in Reading and Math. Students who have not yet met proficiency in these areas are also working hard to reach that important benchmark.
• 5th Grade is additionally striving for proficiency in Science, as this is their first time taking the science portion of ISASP.
Teachers have been setting individual goals with students to help them either reach proficiency or meet/exceed their growth targets. To celebrate their hard work and progress, students will earn one extra minute of recess for every point they grow compared to last year’s scores. For students without prior scores, they will automatically receive 20 minutes of extra recess, plus an additional minute for every point scored above proficiency. And as an extra incentive, if a grade level reaches 70% proficiency or 70% of students meet their growth goal, the entire grade will be treated to snow cones!
Here’s the testing schedule:
• 3rd Grade – Wednesdays, April 9, 16, and 23 (Reading, Writing, Math)
• 4th Grade – Thursdays, April 10, 17, and 24 (Reading, Writing, Math)
• 5th Grade – Tuesdays, April 8, 15, 22, and 29 (Science, Reading, Writing, Math)
To help your student succeed, please ensure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time on their testing days. With your support, we know our students will shine! For more information about ISASP testing, click here.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Jefferson team!
