Weekly Update

Dear Elmore School Families,

As we wind down the school year, our 37th week was full of energy and several high points. The weather has turned a corner and it is beginning to feel a lot like summer!

On Monday we enjoyed our last family Hot Lunch of the school year where students enjoyed homemade mac and cheese, broccoli, watermelon, and homemade cookies for dessert. It was a nice day so we all ate outdoors on the picnic tables!

On Thursday the students all presented their animal research and projects to the class. Then, in the afternoon we opened our classroom up for our Nature Museum, and parents and siblings filled the classroom as they viewed the students' exhibits. There were lots of smiles and pride as they shared their research and creative art projects with the crowd. Thank you all for taking time to join us for this special event.

On Friday morning we had Weather at your School with Marissa Vigevani and the camera operator, James, from NBC News Channel 5! What and exciting morning we had. Three students and their parents braved the early morning, arriving at 4:30 am for the first broadcast at 4:45. Students continued to come in shifts throughout the next 3 hours and students took turns broadcasting live every 15 - 30 minutes. Marissa and James were incredible with the children, taking time to show them the Mobile Weather Lab, camera equipment, and answer questions. I think we may have some future weather forecasters and camera operators in the group!

Next week we have several events to look forward to. On Monday we will be Tie dying shirts with Heather Hill! Please send your child in old clothes! On Tuesday, we go to MES to see an Author presentation. Thursday we have Lunch at Martha and George Twombly's camp on Beach Road. and Friday afternoon we will have our Field days in the afternoon with outdoor games and fun! Students may get wet and they are welcome to bring swim shorts or one-piece swimsuits to change into. We have also earned a reading reward, which I will fit in sometime in the next 6 days! (There will be no more reading homework this year!)

Our last day of school is Tuesday June 16th. Dismissal will be at 12:15. Our 3rd Grade Graduation and end of year family picnic potluck will be that evening from 5:30 - 7:00. All families (grades 1-3) are invited to attend and all students will be performing (3rd graders on their recorders, and all students will be singing). We will send off our third graders with a brief graduation ceremony and then have a potluck picnic after. please sign up to share a dish for our potluck picnic. Use the green button below.

School Hot lunch will be Monday and Wednesday next week. The menu is posted below. Please submit your lunch orders by 6:00 pm on Sunday.

In gratitude,

Diane Nicholls
