Message from the Principal
Dear Nativity Families,
Thank you for taking the time to attend parent conferences over the past three weeks and for your continued partnership in your children’s education. The triangle of communication between parent, student, and teacher is essential to each child’s success, and we are grateful for the thoughtful conversations, shared insights, and commitment to working together. When we partner in support of our students, we strengthen the foundation they need to grow and thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
Wellness Week 2026 Oct. 26-30 is just around the corner! During the final week of October, we will focus on wellness in all its forms, reminding our students of the importance of nurturing their minds, bodies, and souls. We have a wonderful array of activities planned, along with special dress days, so please be sure to review the days below and mark your calendars. As a Catholic community, we recognize that caring for ourselves and one another is an important part of honoring the gifts God has given us.
Please also save the date for our annual Jog-a-Thon on November 20! This event raises funds to support our athletic program and the many opportunities it provides for our students throughout the year. Begin thinking about potential sponsors, and get ready to join in the excitement as we encourage our students to do their best, cheer one another on, and celebrate the spirit of teamwork that makes our Nativity community so special.
Lastly, I know many of you have seen the heartbreaking news of the recent school shooting at an elementary school in Oregon. Tragically, these events continue to occur far too often, and it is difficult to comprehend the profound impact something like this has on the students, families, faculty, and entire school community. By coincidence, I was at the Diocesan Pastoral Center yesterday participating in a parish and school security training with the SDPD when the news broke. I share this with you to reassure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a priority, and we continue to review and reinforce our safety and security protocols, participate in training, and stay informed about best practices. I am especially grateful for our dedicated security team, Jaime and Curtis, who work tirelessly each day to help protect our school. Their vigilance, expertise, and access to resources are an important part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe learning environment. While we recognize that we cannot control every circumstance, we remain committed to being prepared, vigilant, and proactive in caring for our students and teachers.
Please also join me in keeping Pope Leo in our prayers as he continues to recover from lung surgery. May God grant him strength, comfort, and a full recovery. I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend with your families, filled with opportunities to give thanks for the many blessings in our lives. We look forward to seeing you at Monday’s assembly.
With gratitude,
Brittany Bateman

SCHOOL VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Thank you to those who have both completed and started the process to fulfill the requirements for volunteering. We couldn't do all the wonderful things we do for your children without the contribution of your time and talents.
Many of you completed your Live Scan, but there is still more to do. The CMG training(s) need to be completed online before your Live Scan can be added to your training record to complete your certification with the Diocese. The Mandated Reporter Training must be completed as well.
Please click HERE for the links to the volunteer requirements for The Nativity School.
The Nativity School PARENT PORTAL
Within our Parent Portal, you will find the school calendar, links to FACTS, Land's End, and Ki's for ordering lunch, information about enrichment classes, volunteer requirements, dress code and so much more.
You will also find a "Classroom Connect" section which houses information available for each grade level. You will find a welcome letter from your teacher, a class schedule (coming in August), supplies information, summer assignments if any and more.
To access the Parent Portal, go to the school website at TheNativitySchool.org, click on COMMUNITY and select Parent Portal. The password is Stars#1. For privacy reasons, please do not share this password with anyone outside the school community. Once you are in the portal, you can access information by clicking on the link in the various boxes. If a link doesn't work, it is because new data is still forthcoming and will be updated when available.
We invite you to look around in the Parent Portal. Please let Heidi or Traci in the school office know if you run into any issues.
