October Lifeline: Teamwork
"I am a helpful and contributing group and team member, and feel responsible for helping the team reach its goals."
See if you can name all the "Toms" in the photo...
Dear Boone Meadow Families -
What an incredible week it’s been here at Boone Meadow! Today, our PTO treated students to a high-energy, Indy 500–themed celebration (extra recess) in honor of this year’s Jog-A-Thon success—and it was pure joy. Students zipped through inflatable obstacle courses, raced tricycles, sent Matchbox cars down winding tracks, and soaked up every minute of sunshine and fun. It was the perfect way to celebrate such an amazing community effort—thank you for your support that makes experiences like this possible!
On a personal note, I was truly humbled by the outpouring of kindness during Principal Appreciation Week. The thoughtful notes and drawings from students were heartwarming, and the staff—better known as the ever ornery and fun-loving Team Meadow—made sure the week was filled with laughter, surprises, and a good dose of humor. The awkward (Team Meadow) family photo calendar, dozens of pranks, and countless creative "Dress Like Tom” lookalikes (Tom Hanks, Tom Selleck, Tommy Boy, Tom Cruise, Tom Brady, Tom Riddle, and more!) made it a week I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful to work alongside such an inspiring team and community. (See photo above)
As we look ahead, here are a few important reminders for the coming days:
- Family Conferences – November 5–6 Conferences are just around the corner! These important conversations are a chance to celebrate your child’s growth and strengthen our home–school partnership. Please remember that Thursday, November 6 will be an e-Day for all elementary students. If you have questions about your conference time or your child’s e-Day plans, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
- Veterans Day Program – Monday, November 10 (9:30–10:15 AM) - Our students are hard at work preparing for our annual Veterans Day Program—a meaningful tradition where we honor those who have served our country. We warmly welcome our veteran guests (and their guests), along with parents/guardians of 4th-grade students. (Note: Due to space limitations, we’re unable to accommodate extended family or families of students in other grade levels—thank you for understanding as we focus on creating a heartfelt experience for our honored guests.) Please remember that all guests must pre-register by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5 to ensure a smooth and safe event. please see information below to pre-register.
- Student Directory (Directory Spot) - Looking to connect with another family for a playdate or birthday party? The PTO’s opt-in student directory is the perfect way to do so! Please note that ZCS staff cannot share family contact information, so the PTO directory is your best tool for connecting with other families. Details on how to join are included below.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Boone Meadow is a special place because of the care, generosity, and spirit of our families and staff.
Have a wonderful weekend—and if your evening includes trick-or-treating, stay safe and have fun!
With gratitude,
Tom & Jarrod
Tom Hundley, Principal
Jarrod Gatlin, Assistant Principal

Student Fees - News from the Business Services Office
ZCS will soon issue supplemental fee statements to families. These fees are based on the actual cost of materials used by students and help ensure that high-quality learning materials continue to support instruction across all classrooms.
Families participating in the Free/Reduced Meals program will have these fees automatically waived (except in cases of lost or damaged materials). If your family is facing financial challenges, please consider applying for meal assistance or contact our school counselor or the Business Services Department for support. Families can apply for meal assistance on the ZCS website under the "Departments" tab > Food Services. You can also click HERE: https://www.zcs.k12.in.us/departments/food-services/meal-assistance
Supplemental fee statements will be sent to elementary families the week of 10/27 via ParentSquare from the ZCS Business Office.
For additional details and information, please reference Dr. Coffman's original message sent via ParentSquare on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to provide the best learning experiences for all students.
