A Note from Mrs. Pitts

Dear RES Family,

I wanted to let you know the classroom teaching assignments for the 2025-2026 school year. Please know that it is always the case that something unexpected could happen and changes could be made but this is what we know right now.

Kindergarten: Maggie Hanna and Vicki Scally

First Grade: Aimee Caruso and Ellen Jackson

Second Grade: Eileen Murphy, Jen Sabine, and Shannon Woodhouse

Third Grade: Amanda Goss and Eric Ross

Fourth Grade: Jacquie DeFreze, Diane Smaracko and TBA

*Based on this information and knowing we have had shifting in the last few years, if you have an extenuating circumstance related to placement, please email me as soon as possible!

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, Outdoor Education will no longer be a separate class but we are meeting (today actually) as much as needed to discuss how we can still ensure that outdoor education and our incredible resources are still utilized! All other Unified Arts teachers will remain the same for next year.

Our special education team will be shifting next year as we wish the fantastic Mrs. Fabrycki continued success as she relocates to Massachusetts to be closer to her family with her beautiful daughter:).

Thank you for your support, as always!

Michelle

Did You Know! Did You Know!

This section is new and will be a feature for the next few weeks (or more) in response to the leadership survey I received. There were some aspects of our school that families wanted to know more about so we are trying to provide that information to all of you! One of the main areas of "wonder" was technology. Kate Morrison wanted to share with you some information on the SAMR model, one we aspire to as a school community.

The SAMR Model for Technology Integration

The SAMR model helps teachers use technology in a thoughtful way that enhances learning without overdoing screen time. It’s a way to think about how technology can be used in different ways to support students.

At the lower levels, technology might simply replace traditional tools, like using a tablet instead of paper for drawing. As teachers move to higher levels, technology helps students engage more deeply, like collaborating using technology, or creating projects they couldn’t do before.

The key idea is that when used right, technology is not just for more screen time, but for making learning more interactive, creative, and fun, while still balancing it with other activities. It’s all about using tech in a smart way to help students learn better.

Book Fair is Coming!!! Book Fair is Coming!!!

Scholastic Book Fair

1- April 14th- April 18th

  • Your child will shop with their class sometime during this week.
  • We allow shopping dependent on child's teachers wishes.
  • Friday parents are welcome to shop after the assembly in the 1/2nd grade wing (students will be in class).

2- Payments-Ewallets are open!

  • This is a painless way for your child to have shopping "credit" for the fair. When they come to check out a child is told their amount for spending or often teachers give them this ahead of time. Use QR code to set up an ewallet!
  • Cash is also accepted!!

3- Teacher's libraries

  • You can donate funds to a teachers classroom library through their individual classroom ewallet ( teachers will provide) or purchase at the fair.
  • We will also have a teacher wishlist in the fair room to purchase on Friday.

4- Share the fair-

  • This is new and totally optional but a way to fund a book for someone else in RES who may not have funds for a new book. Staff at RES will use these donation to purchase a book for anyone who needs.

5- Kid picks

  • Please have a conversation with your child about acceptable purchases. While we can discourage them from buying 4 journals and a bookmark, ultimately it is their choice.

Looking forward to help your children shop the latest and greatest!

Lunch in Our Caf

We invite one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend. This is an occasional event as we do want children to build independence and social skills in the cafeteria, a perfect time for this!

  • Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time. It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
  • Adults must bring their own lunch and can bring lunch for their own child.
  • We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
  • Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
  • Days for family visits are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We do not have lunch visitors on Fridays.
  • Lunch times are:
  • Kindergarten-11:45-12:10

    First Grade-12:10-12:35

    Second Grade-12:10-12:35

    Third Grade- 11:15-11:40

    Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40

Sheryl Faye: The Life of Sally Ride Sheryl Faye: The Life of Sally Ride

Students in grade 2-4 enjoyed an assembly with Sheryl Faye, an actress who creates one woman shows to teach the lives of women who have made an impact. This year students were treated to a performance that taught the life of scientist and astronaut, Sally Ride. There were so many science experiments and volunteer opportunities for students. It was an interactive learning experience that embedded the power of theater, science and history!

Student Band: Thank you PTA

I wanted to say thank you again for the three child-sized guitars we received from the PTA last school year. Our music group is going strong and we are excited to perform at a spring vacation send-off concert later this month that will include a visit from WMUR!

Thank you again for your support!

Sincerely,

Caitlin Piper

Look What We Did!

We are proud to report that we collected an incredible amount of food for Gather, showcasing the strength and compassion of our school community. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this meaningful cause. The spirit of competition was alive, but the true victory lies in our collective effort to help those in need in our community. Congratulations to third grade for scoring 783 points! Your dedication and teamwork have earned you extra recess with Mrs. Pitts!
