MOMENT OF SILENCE

During the most recent Idaho Legislative Session, House Bill 623 was passed and signed into law by Governor Little and took effect on July 1, 2026. The bill requires all schools in Idaho to provide a moment of silence for a minimum of sixty (60) seconds each day to allow students to reflect, meditate, pray, or engage in another silent activity. Public school employees are prohibited from providing instruction to students regarding the nature of any reflection that a student may engage in during the period of silence.

The bill also requires all schools to notify parents and legal guardians regarding the period of silence and to encourage parents and legal guardians to provide guidance to students regarding how to use the sixty (60) seconds each day. Please speak to your children and provide them with guidance regarding how to use the moment of silence each day, as school employees are strictly prohibited from doing so by law and will not be providing any guidance to students on this matter.
