Dove Creek Schools Weekly Update

There is so much to celebrate at Dove Creek Schools this week! From outstanding students and dedicated staff to amazing community partners, our Bulldogs continue to give us plenty of reasons to be proud!

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Dawn, our MS/HS Employee of the Month!

Ms. Dawn has stepped up to take on the role of Lead Paraprofessional for our ESS team, showing tremendous dedication, leadership, and a willingness to take on new challenges.

Her commitment to supporting our students, staff, and ESS program is truly appreciated.

Let's hear it for Alyssa Vialpando, our Elementary Staff Member of the Month! 🎉

Alyssa stepped in as a substitute teacher for second grade and has done an outstanding job! Her flexibility, positive attitude, and willingness to go above and beyond have made a tremendous difference for our students.

We are so grateful for her dedication and the care she brings to our school each day.

👏 Addison Davis - Congratulations to Addison Davis for being recognized as our Middle School Bulldog of Character! Addison consistently demonstrates kindness, good manners, a strong work ethic, and genuine care for fellow classmates. These everyday actions make a BIG difference and are a wonderful example of what it means to live the Bulldog Way!

💙💛 Bryson Dixson and Clayton Smith - A huge shoutout to Bryson Dixson and Clayton Smith for demonstrating outstanding leadership at the Hesperus Leadership Camp!

These young men took our freshman agriculture students under their wings, providing encouragement, guidance, and support throughout the experience. Ms. Lane was especially impressed by the genuine care and leadership they showed toward their younger classmates.

Our Bulldogs put their brainpower to work at the Telluride Knowledge Bowl Competition, bringing home an impressive 3rd PLACE! 🥉

Our elementary students had a special lesson this past week focused on one of our favorite Bullpup STRONG traits — GRIT!

A huge thank you to Ms. Suzane and our Elementary Student Ambassadors for leading this meaningful lesson!

Students explored what it means to persevere, face challenges with determination, and keep trying even when things get tough.

The message was simple but powerful:

💪 Great things take effort, determination, and a willingness to NEVER GIVE UP!

We love seeing our student ambassadors step into leadership roles and help our younger Bullpups grow.

Thank you for helping our students become Bullpup STRONG! 🐾💙💛

A special shoutout to Charlene Buffington for the incredible support and guidance she has provided to Amber Fisher through our staff mentoring program!

Amber shared how much she appreciates Charlene's willingness to answer questions, offer encouragement, and provide guidance as she continues to grow in her role.

Strong schools are built by people who support and lift one another up, and this is a perfect example of the Bulldog Way in action!

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to AJ Fry, Violet Fallon, Gina Kotarski, and Teresa Martin for providing CPR certification training to our district staff!

The training was informative, engaging, and filled with practical, hands-on experiences to help our staff feel prepared in an emergency.

The feedback was outstanding!

Mrs. Kati Banks shared:

"Without a doubt one of the best CPR classes I've ever attended. Phenomenal hands-on instruction and great visuals and videos. I loved the discussions and scenarios they gave me as a PE teacher."

We are incredibly fortunate to have community partners who are willing to share their expertise and time to help keep our students and staff safe.

We recently had the exciting opportunity to welcome representatives from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to Dove Creek Schools!

What makes this visit especially meaningful? They came because of the positive things they've been hearing about our schools! 🎉

What an incredible compliment to our students, teachers, support staff, and entire school community!

Every day, our staff works hard to provide meaningful learning opportunities, build positive relationships, and help our students grow academically and personally.

It is wonderful to know that the great things happening inside our classrooms and throughout our buildings are being noticed beyond our community.

We have always believed that BIG things happen in SMALL schools, and this visit was another reminder of just how special Dove Creek Schools truly is!

To our entire Bulldog team: THANK YOU! Your hard work, dedication, and genuine care for students are what make our schools such a special place.

  A few friendly reminders for families:

  • 👻 Please send costumes that students can put on independently before their parties.

  • 🚫 No scary costumes or fake weapons.

  • 🍎 All party food will be provided by the school.

  • 🎁 If sending goodie bags, please avoid candy due to student allergies.
